LAWS OF GEORGIA.
AN ACT
To add iho territory lyins within the
eharteted limits of Georgia, anil now in
the occupancy of the Clteerukee Indians,
to the counties of Carroll, DcKalh, Gwin
nett, Hall and Habersham, mid to extend
the laws of this state over the satire; and to
annul all laws and ordinances made by lire
Cherokee Nation of Indians, and lo pro
vide for the compensslion of ofiiuers serv
ing legal process in said territory, and to
regulate lire testimony of Indians. &.C.—

tion of the unlocated territory which is at
taciied to each of the above named coun
ties All the laws both civil and criminal
of the state are extended over said portions
of territory respectively, and all persons
whatever residing witlring the seme, after
the 1st day ofJune next, to be subject and
liable lo the operation’of said laws, in lire
same manner as other citizens, of this state;
and writs & processes issued try the couris,
or officers of the counties to extend over
end operate on the portions of territory
added to the same respectively. After the
1st of June all laws, ordiiianc.es, Sic pass
ed by the Cherokee Indians, are declared
null and void. It shall not he lawful for
any person by arbitrary power, or by vir
tue of any pretended rule, ordinance, law
or esutom of the Cherokee Nation, to pre
vent, or by threats, menaces' or other
means, to endeavor to prevent any Indian
of said Nation residing within the charter-
ed limits of this state, from enrolling as an
emigrant, or from emigrating from tire Na
tion—nor to molest the person or property
nr abridge the rights or privileges of any
Indian for enrolling hisj||Ame as an emi
grant or for emigrating. Persons olf, nd

The persons so offending shall bo gnilty of

emigrant, attempting to emigrate, ceding
