JN as much as the Drawing of the Un-

then postponed till the 2d day ,of this

could not leave Thomaston to sell Tick*

Potter’s Eye-NV ater.
T HE numerous and distressing case
of inveterate ophthalmia which had
resisted the usual modes of treatment, that
daily fell nnder the notice of the proprietor
of the Catholicoo, among the patients who
thronged his office in pursuit of the latter
medicine, induced him to devoto much
lime &. attention to the various phcoomo
na.attendant on a morbid state ol that most
--quiritc of oil organs, the eye.
Ophthalmia, or inflammation of the
eyes, is found to exist in very different de
grees. It sometimes occupies only a por
tion of the globe, but frequently extends
itself oser the whole. To describe either
the anatomy ofthe parts or the various
shades of difference that exist in their
inflammation would be useless. It may
be sufficient to observe that io many cases
where there is bat little seeming inflam
mation, the pain is ofthe most intense na
ture, and where the larmer corers the
whole eye there is scarcely any uneasi
ness felt. Tlte-causes of this disease are
yarinus.butfromlong mention to tlto sub-
cct,lj;im convinced that it moslcommpn-
y proceeds from sotiM unknown condi
tion o( the atmosphere. Where a blow
has beeu received, or a foreign body for
ced into (lie eye, the cause is evident
Tho eye is ooe of the most complex,
delicate and important organs of the hu
man body, and os long continued inflam
mation may, and frequently does, and in
producing a total alteration of its atrnc-
tnre, thereby inducing absolute blindness,
recourse should be had to some remedy,
an the first iulimattou of its approach—
Exlentive Experience enables me to re
commend Potter’s Eye-water Cur that
purpose, which, if properly used, will not
fail in cure the most inreterato ophthal
mia, either symptomatic or idiopathic.
Dealing solely io faelt, ami demanding
only such a character for this new colly-
rium as upon trial it may be found to pos
sess, the proprietor begs leave to assure
those who may be troubled with this un
pleasant, and, if neglected, dangerous
eoropliiint, that Potter's Eye-water is a
sale and certain remedy.
It produces no unpleasant sensation
whilst applying it to Ihe eyes, but on, the
contrary, is a must cooliog balm and ac
ceptable restorer. Not a particle of any
mineral substance uhaltxer enters into its
composition) benen it is docldecly prefer
able to tho remedies usually employed,
which chiefly consist of copper, lead.xinc,
file. Slc. anti are rather calculated to pro
ducc a recurrence ol more formidable com
plaints.
Io removing a defluxion of sharp and
vitiated humoura consequent upon cer
tain diseases, this coftyrium acts with ite
ciaire efficacy. Four or fife applications
will strengthen recent cases of weak eyes
traduced by panicles of dust, etc. blown
nto the eyes by strong winds, reading or
sewing by candle light—in fact, for any
incommodity of vision that is not caused
by an alteration ofthe tractive—Potter’s
Eye-water will be prosed, on trial, to poa-
•eta the same intrinsic merits that has
placed hit celebrated Catltolicou on a le
vel with the most esteemed and saleable
