See. 2. Be it Atrther ordained, That it shall
be the duty of the Lamp Committee, whenever
n written application is unde by any owner or
occupier ofa house within that portion of the
city North of Liberty street, to have a lamp aud
lamp post similar to the city lamps, set up in
front of dwelling homo, stoic, or stinp of said
owner or occupier, to cause die ■nine lo be dona
forthwith nt tiie expense of the city; the raid
owner or occupier shall give a written promise
(with security, if said Committee shnll deem it
requisite,) that he. she or tliey will cause the
ssiua to be lit for one year, at lib. her or their
ezponse, in the same manner as tho city lamps
are lit; and if tha said person eo entering into
such promise shaii neglect or refuse to comply
therewith; lie. she or they shall be pfefed pit
tho information docket, and may be fined for
each and every night on which said lamp is not
lit, according to the writion promise and this
Ordinance, lu n sum not exceeding five dollars.
Sec. 3. And be it further ordained, That af
ter tlio expiration ofllio \ear mentioned in said
written promise, it shnll ho lawful for the Lamp
Committee lo renew lha same, at the requestor
tiie promisor, and upon lha name terms, or in
default oftho renewal thereof.it shall bo the
duty of said Coinmiiteo to causo tlio said lamp
nud post so eroded to he taken down and pre
served for the benefit oftho city.
Seo.4. Bo it further ordained. That at the
first regular meeting of Council iu January in
