“"Perry Davis'' Vegetable Pnln Killer.
Di'Bl'qi'E, May 6,1665.
Gentlemen:—I feel under obligations to you for the
benefit I have received from your invaluable Pain Kilh-r.
We have had some cholera lien- on the Mississippi thus
early in the season. A few days since I assisted III “lay
ing out” and burying one of our citizens who was sup
posed to have died with tin- disease. The next iiieriiing
I was taken with severe vomiting, in eouipanii-d with cold
ness of the extremiti'-s. Warm eoveHug and hot appli
cations failed to restore warmth. My wife's family, w ho
had used the Pain klll'-r with micco.-vs during the elioh-ra
season in Buffalo in 184'). advised III" to take it. 1 took
two doses at Intervals of fifteen minute#; a fine perspira
tion ensued, nnd the next day, durrlng a little weakness,
I was well, and have been since.
It may have been an attack of Ague, hut whether Ague
or Cholera, it answered my purpose.
Fiiu-e my recovery. I find that several of mir citizens
have used the Pain Killer as a remedy for Cholera, and
pronounced it go #1. I therefore toko pleasure in recom
mending it to still more cxti'ii'h-dno tlee.
Yours, truly, W. M. CR0ZIKK,
_ Attorney at Law.
l’crry Davis A Son, Providence, R. I. #•
Till# may i-ci-tlfv, that I have used Perry Davis' Vege
table Pain Killer in numi-roiis^nscs, nnd believe It to bo
a very valuable medicine. I have prescribed it extensive
ly in bowel complaint, (particularly for children,) nnd it
Is in my opinion. Hiiperior to any preparation 1 have ever
used for til" ri ll"f of those diseases.
1’. S. When given to children, I have always combined
It with the syrup of gum arable, say ten drop# to a tea-
spoonful of the syrup, well mixed. Dos —More „r less

CAtTION TO THE PUBLIC*
Learning from aomo of tho respoclable firms of
Chailestou and Savannah, that my Bcheldatn Aromatic

aud finding that tho pirates daringly advertise their per*

astlcli, 1 think It necessary lo caution tho community
against these vendors of poison in dirgulso.
I introduced tho Hcheidum Aromatic Schnapps forth
purpose of supplying the medical faculty and the wholo
community with a pnro medicinal spirit, which mlgh
be prescribed with confidence; to all cases where stlniu

bad the article analyzed by chemists of world-wide
celebrity, and submitted It for experimental test to thou
sands of dis'i ngulkhed tnodlcul practitioners. The re

uml my reputation, by frowning down and repudiating
the piratical speculators, who are peddling tbclr foul
commodities under cover of my trado mark. No article

Among the complaints for which tlio Schnapps has
been declared a specific by the eminent physiclaus who

disurdi-rt, It Is now preserved with great success, by
more than three thousand medical practitioners la vari

I beg to call the attention of the reader lo the follow-
lug letters from physicians:—
Dr. Charles A. Lease,Comnilssloncr of Health. Balti

Dr. C. Robbins of Boston, celebrated for his cure of

From Dr. John 8. Reese, chemist, Baltimore, Md..
September 15, 1852:—
“A number of our physicians are ordering the article,
and several have already prescribed tt. Persons to whom
l have sold 11, speak very highly of its qualities. A
gentleman of my own pcraouul acquaintance, having
Buffered greatly with an affection of the kidney s and
bladder, took two bottles, and aubtequently pasted a
stone of considerable size, nnd was greatly relieved. II
will, no doubt,go into genuraluso.”
From II. A. Prom, M. I)., 81. Louis. Juno 6,185.1:—
“Having seen your advertisement of a pure Holland
gin, worthy the confidence ol phy.lclnns, I wrlto to you
will) a view of procuring a samplo or It. In dropsical
ttffecllous, and in some farms of renal disease, lla effica
cy has long been acknowledged, and It has only lulloa
lido disutn because ol the compounds told under the
numo of llol and gin. I waul louse It at present In colic,
us It Is an excellent remedy In infantile colic, and I
cannot procure u compound to be relied on.”
From J- H. Woodward, M. D. Walcrbury, Veimout,
May 8, 1852:—
**l am treating at (he present timo a chronic affection
of the kidneys, which bus shown itself very obsllnalo to

**l am fully tenslbloof the great benefits to bo derived
in certain forms of urinary disturbance, from the use
of good Holland; but that I# an artlclo so difficult to
procure, without great trouble, that 1 heve been com
pelled lo content inyix-ir with I ss palatable, and, ibcro-
loro, less faithfully taken medicaments. A pure first
rule Scheldam cannot fall to meet with the hearty appro*
ballon of physicians.”
l)r. It. L. lltckley, of East Boston, Aug. 11, 1852
writes
‘•l have Just received yours ol tho 7th lust, and being
fully convinced that pure Holland gin Is possessed of
many tncdiclual properties, which, whenjudlclously ad
ministered, produce very beneficial results, 1 shall be
happy to introduce your Aromatic Schcldam Schnapps
among my friends In this vicinity.”
Dr. J. R. Kibble. Drukesvtllo, N.J., In January, 1853,
wrlteaasfollows;—
•*8o great has been tho difficulty with mo to procure
a pure nrlielo of gin, and so often hovel been disap
pointed, that 1 huvo almost entirely ceased to prescribe
ginforuny complaint, anil iiuvo nearly despaired of
being able to do it with better success, unless yours
is what y ou clainl for; If so, you will have conferred a
boon on the practitioner# in this country, that I am
sure they will not be slow to acknowledge.”
From Dr. 8. F.Furbes, Toledo, Ohio, Aug. 13, 1853.
‘-The frequent notices of the .Schiedam Schnapps,
both by tho profession and the press, had induced the
desire of testing the efficacy of this preparation of gin
before 1 received your uoto. 1 trust it will fulfil the
expectations of the most sanguine, and prove both a
blessing nnd a profit to Buffering humanity.”
Dr. D. Colklus, town physician jyul surgeon at Lymo,
Connecticut, says, In u letter dated October 14, D^g:—
•*1 consider your Schiedam 8chnapps a aupperior ar
ticle, and one that will not come short of our highest
expectations. It Is an artlclo tho medical fraternity
have long wanted. 1 havo used R, so far, with every
apparent success. . 1). COLKIN8.”
‘•Laboratory, New York, May*.’, 1853.
•-Mr. Udolpiio Wolf :—Dear Sir:—I cannot speak
too highly of the purity of your Schiedam Schnapps.—
Ills decidedly superior to suy tiling of tho klud In
the market. It Is perfectly free from the admixture of
fusil oil, or any of those arnylic compounds which pro
duce such mischievous aud Irreparable effect upon the
constitution, nnd which very few samples of alcoholio
distilled liquors are without—most of them being
largely Impregnated with it. I havo personally In
spected the various processes of distillation practiced
ut Schiedam, uml know that unusual care Is taken to
sepnrnto tho noxious eloments from tho pure alcohol
nnd your8chnappa Isa striking proot of Its aucce*#.—
Aa a medical agent for chronic and reual affections, I
havo successluliy proscribed It; and recommend It as an
agreeable cordial and harmless stimulant, uml shall
combine (» do so ns woll as fa use It asa source of pure
alcohol for chemical Investigations und experiment*.
