About

J. B. Webb and Company began publishing the weekly Republican Herald in Columbus in March 1836. The paper merged with William Cline and B. V. Iverson’s Columbus Sentinel in 1838 to form the Columbus Sentinel and Herald. The paper ran until February 1841, when James Van Ness founded the Columbus Times and put the Sentinel and Herald out of business.
