Martin Henry, a negro switchman
of the Central of Georgia railway,
died this morning as the result of in
juries sustained last night In the rail
road yards, the outgoing 9 o’clock
Central train running him down.
Henry, it seems, from the- account
given The Herald, must have been
drinking. As the train was leaving
the yards, traveling very. slowly,
Henry approached the track, in plain
view of the engineer, Capt. Vaughn.
The engineer naturally thought he
would stop at the track and wait for
the train to pass.
Instead of this, Martin stepped on
the track just as the engine reached
him. He was knocked down, and the
train passed over his body. He was
immediately giyen surgical treatment
by Drs. P. L. and A. H. Hilsman, but
died this morning. _
Martin Henry had been In the em
ploy of the Central for many years.

Indications, there will be a rousing

movement which holds the promise of
so much good.
A -.also impression seemB to have
been received by some to the effect
that the Albany Business League had
already been organized, and in order
to disabuse the minds of all on this
point, it seems wise that the history
of the movement which will result in
the meeting tonight be given.
On the evening of January 5 a few
of the'business men In the city met
lor the purpose of discussing the ad
visability of forming some sort of or
ganization of business men. The
meeting was composed of perhaps a
dozen men, each representing a dlf
ferent line of business, thus Insuring
air broad and comprehensive a discus-

This meeting proved to be a very
enthusiastic one, and those who were
present decided to attempt the organ

along quite different lines from those
pursued In the launching a’ any simi
