“Sweet Clover” the Attraction To
night at Rawllna Theatrg.
The management ot the Rawlins
Theatre has a guaranteed attraction
In the pretty comedy-drama, “Sweet
Clover," which will be the offering
tonight
‘‘Sweet Clover," however, tells a
more serious tale than most plays,
though there Is a delicious comedy
vein In the roleB of “Abigail Hol
combe,” the spinster, and her back
ward lover, “Job Masson," who has
been courting her for thirty years and
Is still ‘‘a-leadln’ up to It," and the
characters of young ‘‘Jack Hamilton”
and his sweetheart, "Sunny Andrews,”
with their many lovers’ quarrels.
Though the play Is sometimes called
a pastornl Idyll, only one scene Is laid
In the country, while the other three
are located In the metropolis, thus
allowing considerable scope for some
■beautiful scenic effects, handsome
costuming, odd furniture and original
lighting effects. Otis B. Thayer plays
the principal role of “Jerome Hol
combe,” and Gertrude Bondhlll,
clever young emotional actress, en
acts tile character of “hols Hoi
combe." The original company Is re
tained.
