CHEROOTS
Package of 3 for 5 Cents
» a
(Jr cheroot is a cigar made
without the head)
The difference between a good 5-cent
cigar and the famous Old Virginia Che
root is mostly right here: You get three
good smokes for your 5 cents instead
of one.
No difference in quality.
The difference in price is due wholly
to money-saving in the making. No
useless hand-made “head”. No foil-'
length filler—five different kinds of high-
grade blended leaf but all small leaves
and selected clippings. No small-quan
tity manufacturing methods—a million
produced every day in
the best organized and
cleanest cigar-factory
in the world.

An amusing incident in. connection
with Sunday morning’s fire in the Her
ald office is related by Mr. Addison
Askins, who is night clerk in the post-
office, which is immediately under the
composing room to which the fire Was
confined. Mr. Askins sleeps on a cot
between malls, and during the early
hours of the morning was awakened by
a noise which he took to be dripping
water. He immediately decided that a
water pipe in the Herald office over
head was leaking, and placed an empty
coal scuttle where it would catch the
dripping water. Some time later Mr.
Askins was aroused by an alarm bf fire,
and discovered that flarted’were roar
ing above his head. Investigation a
little later showed that the “water”
wliich had been drippiug into the coal
scuttle was melted type [metal, which
was (pouring through a crack, in the
ceiling. Mr. Askins considers it a for
tunate circumstance that a drop of£the
melted metal did nbt land on his head
when he was in the act of placing the
coal scuttle.
