Lord Nelson and HI* Valet,
The great Nelson’s sovereignty was
confined to the seas; on shore his

of his days the faithful old servant as
cribed his master's fate to the fact
that lie was not aboard Nelson’s ship

Tom had been everywhere with Nel

and ever afterward he used to say:
"If I had only been there Lord Nel

Three good cheroots for cent 3, and
three good reasons why they don’t
cost just three iimes c:: much:
TRADE MARK
1
| The Old Virginia Cheroot is a cigar mads without the head. The little
useless but costly hand-made head, of a cigar—the tip end that you must
bite off before you light up—costs as much to make as the whole cigar.
It’s already off when you buy your Ctd Virginia Cheroots. You
pay your money for smokes—and never a cer.t wasted.
O The Old Virginia Cheroot is made from giadly the same tobacco as reg-
™ ular 5-cent cigars. Binder and wrapper are from the same bales.
The filler is rolled from the shorter leaves or :I the clippings of the larger
ones. This economical way of separating the leaf by sizes helps to save
you a third of every nickel you spend for smokes.
O—The Old Virginia Cheroot is made by systematic modem methods that
not only produce even, dependable quality year after year but that cut out
file waste of the usual hap-hazard cigar-making processes. It is produced
in quantities so immense that the manufacturing cost is cut down to bed
rock. 1,000,000 Old Virginia Cheroots finished and packed every day
in the finest, largest, cleanest cigar-factory in the world.

A Collard To Be Remembered.
The Herald is indebted to Mr. W.
Ed. Wooten, one of the best farmers
of Dougherty county, for a specimen of
the collard family which deserves to
have its claims to fame placed on rec
ord. It’ is not only a monster in size,
the circumference being more than a
yard, but has headed up, like a chimp;
pion cabbage. The head is astonish
ingly large, and perfectly firm. This Is
a great collard country, and Mr.
Wooten has demonstrated that he Is
a specialist in that department of ag
riculture.
The (Herald office is rapidly recuper
ating from the effects of last Sunday’s
fire. The destruction of such a large
quantity of advertising and job type
made it impossible to change adver
tisements or turn out pressing job
work for several days, but next week
our facilities will be such as to enable
us to fully and promptly execute all
orders.
