SAVANNAH DRUMMERS

Carnival.
Mofher’s
Special to The Herald.
Savannah, Ga., March 1.—The drum
mers of Savannah are making prepi
nrations to give their friends iu Geor
gia, Florida and Alabama a great time
when they come here in May. Tlie
members of Post A, T. P. A., have de
termined to give a May week in re
turn for the excellent support the citi
zens of the town gave their national
convention last year. The details are
now being worked out. The dates will
be during the middle of May, when
Savannah is In her prettiest garb, and
the people will be welcomed here at
home by those Knights of the Grip
who meet them so often on the road.
The man who passes up this spring
carnival will be sorry.

Why He Refrained.
The HERALD people are working un -
der great difficulties today, and the
trials resulting from the recent fire
which came so near destroying the en
tire plant are numerous and hard to
overcome while the building is being re
paired. Last night the charred ceiling
overhead was ripped off, and today the
carpenters are putting on new ceiling.
In the midst of all this, the electric
wiring and the shafting, overhead have
had to.be looked after and kept in com
mission, and the printers and machines
have been cramped pnd greatly im
peded. We: are not compldinihg, for
Contractor Sipith’s men and those of
the Albany Btectrical and Construction
Company are doing all that faithful
and industrious men could possibly do
to help us and to finish their work with
out delay; but we want our friends and
the public to know that we are having
oar trials and that it requires all the
perseveranej, grace, faith, hope and
charity in the shop t6 get out this
paper.
