NEW ORLEANS COTTON LETTER
{By Wire tn Clark ft Oo.l
New Orleans, March 7.—The {excel
lent sales of 20,000 bales of spots Id
Liverpool justified a more complete
response to our better market of yes
terday, but selling of long commit
ments by spinners who were buying
the actual staple Instead retarded ad
vances, the purpose being to acquire
the better grades now and not depend
upon receiving them on their con
tracts. In the net result options closed
at , an advance of 3 points.
In the early morning trading of the
local ring prices were sustained by
the support of the former bull leaders,
hut afterwards scalpers began to Ham
mer the market, and no support being
forthcoming had, no difficulty in influ
encing a moderate depression. The
The South is never true to the South
as far as the cotton market is con
cerned.
Our opening of 3 to 5 up was about
as expected. There Is no general sup
port by the outside public, or prices
would advance rajlldly.
Texas sent heavy buying orders to
New Orleans, and the great bull mar
ket once more showed strong prem
iums on all positions.
A BACK SAVER
One of tlie most convenient articles of
household equipment is an iron heating
furnace. It is clean; saves time and trouble
and insures a hot fire all the time.
It does away with stooping over the grate
or running to the ltitchen every time you want
a hot iron. It is light and can he carried to
any room in the house. 85c to $1.35 each.

W. P. Brown was in the New Or

blocks. Frank Hayne also bought
heavily.
Port receipts were 18,000, against
24,000 last year.
Liverpool showed strong all day, and
closed 4 higher.-
