DOWNPOUR DID NOT
STOP DOVE SHOOT.
Gunners Went Out Today in Spite of
. Most Unfavorable Conditions.
The bad weather this morning sadly
Interfered with the dove shoot which
was scheduled to take place on the
Farkas plantation, five mile? below the
city.
At'the time when most of the sports
men would have left their warm beds
to dress for the hunt, the rain was
coming down in torrents. The aver
age expectant hunter merely listened
for a moment, then turned over and
went back to sleep.
A few brave spirits, however, faced
the bad weather and were in the bait
ed field by daylight. The rain was so
thick, that a bird could hardly have
flown against it, but the gunners, in
cluding a • number who came down
from Macon last night, stuck to their
posts until the downpour finally
ceased.
The shooting has been in progress
all day., A number of parties have
gone out duHng the .forenoon, and it
is understood that good sport .is being
enjoyed. There^s no telling how .many
doves will be killed during the day.
