latest one’ to take his pen in hand. In
an open letter to Judge T. M. Nor

about three columns of newspaper
space to digest. Mr. Collins has ac
cused Judge Norwood of not attending
to the business of his court, and this
is a reply to the Judge’s defense of
that charge. He tells his honor jfchat

The great English market was 1
lower on spots, but sales of 14,000
bales showed the same good demand
which has been the sustaining influ
ence In Europe all season. Futures
were 1 to 2 lower.
Manchester cabled: "Demand for
yarns good, and the week’s turnover
will be satisfactory.”
American and European mills are
committed for months ahead, and
stocks are running low.
New York opened 3 to 4 lower, but
the decline was shortlived, and prices
quickly advanced to yesterday’s close.
The bulls seemed to center their
support on-May.-and renewed talk of
a corner In this month was heard
around the ring.
New Yoik brokers traveling ih
Texas and the territories say stocks
are light, and the disposition is to re
duce rather than iucrease the acre
age.
Around 11 cents looks like "rock
bottom” for May cotton. The Price
syndicate is In absolute command qf
this month, and can carry it ns high
as they like. Generally believed they
will corner same.
There is no denying that May shorts
are in a dangerous position.
Port receipts were only 14,000,
against 28,000 last year. /
Only two factors are necessary for
a great advance. One Is for the pro
ducer to hold his spots, and the other
for the general public to buy con
tracts.
Liverpool was steady all day,
ing 1 lower.

The schedule to be instituted on the
B. & W. branch of the Atlantic Coast
Line railway as the result of the per
sistent efforts of. the Albany Business
League has been announced.
Several days ago, the matter appar-
ently having been held up by*the rail
road officials, Secretary John A/Betje-
man, of the Business League, took-his
case to headquarters, laying It before
President, T. M. Emerson, of the Coast
Line system.
Mr. Emerson responded immediate
ly, and Issued instructions that the
improved schedule he inaugurated
without further delay. In the next
mall a letter was received from Third
Vice-President J. R. Kenly, who placed
the matter In definite shape in the fol
lowing letter:
Wilmington, N. C., March 27, 1906.
Mr. Jno. A. Betjeman, ' '
Secretary Albany Business League,
Albany, Ga.'
Dear Sir:
Your communication of the 23rd
Inst, to Mr. T. M. Emerson, President,
regarding the passenger train service
to and from Albany has been referred
to me.
In reply, I beg to advise that I have
given the matter consideration, and
early in April we will arrange to put
In effect as near as practicable the
following timetable for passenger
trains to and from Albany:
Train No. 95 to leave Albany at 2
p. m., and No. 94 to arirve at 11:45
a. m. These trains will make all con.
nectlons for Savannah and Jackson
ville.
Train No. 91 to leave Albany at 5:45
a. m., and train No. 90 to arrive at
10:30 p. m., also making the connec
tions as above stated.
ThlB Is practically, as 1 understand
It, what your citizens desire, with the
exception of train No. 95, which we
have been obliged to schedule out of
Albany at 2 p. m. Instead of 4 p. m,
as you request. The reason for this
is the connection at Waycross with
trains Nos. 21 and 22, running be
tween Jacksonville and Savannah'.
The schedules as outlined will great
ly Improve the present service, and
will give a double dally service to Sa
vannah and Brunswick and good con
nections for Jacksonville.
The new arrangement will require
an additional train between Waycross
and Tlfton to take care of the Dixie
Flyer, the schedule of which remains
practically unchanged.
I am very glad indeed to be Able to
put this new service in effect, and very
much hope it will be entirely satisfac
tory to our patrons at Albany as well
as at other points along the route.
Yours very truly,
J. R. KENLY,
Third Vice-President.
The letter explains itself. The sched
ule sends all trains Into and out of
Albany at seasonabel hours, and loses
none of the Important connections,
even though the operation of an extra
train is necessitated. It gives a double
dally service between Albany and
Brunswick.
It would be better, of course, If the
afternoon train were to leave'at 4 In
stead of 2 o’clock, and'this arrange
ment may yet be changed, having
been taken up again. On the whole,
however, the improvement Is such that
Albanians will not be disposed to find
fault
Another letter states that the change
of schedule will become effective be
tween the 6th and 8th pf April.
The Inauguration of this schedule
will he hailed with general delight all
along the line from Brunswick to Al
bany, and will cause the traveling pub
lic In this part, of the country to ten
der the management of the Coast Line
