Of interest to every owner of real
estate in the city Is the notice of Clerk
Y. C. Rust, which appears elsewhere
In The Herald, to the effect that all
returns of city lots for taxation this
year "must state explicitly the number
of feet, frontage and depth, of each
lot or fractional part thereof,.
This is In accordance with a re
cent resolution of the City Council.
In the past, under the arrangements
for the return of property which have
been in vogue for a number of years,
It has been a matter of Impossibility
to determine whether all real estate
bore Its Just share of taxation.
As will be seen by reference to the
notice now being published, Clerk
Rust states that he will receive no re
turns of real estate which fail to state
clearly the dimensions of the lots
given in. By, a strict adherence to
this rule it should prove a compara
tively easy matter to determine, after
the tax books, close, what lots or por
tions thereof have not been returned,
and the delinquent owners can be
promptly notified.
This Is the beginning of a plan
which will be closely adhered to by
the city authorities for the purpose of
securing a more complete plan of mu-
of both real
which has In the past escaped Its
Share of taxation.
The books will be open at the office
of the clerk on April 2.
