Announcement Kras made, yesthrday
afternoon of the marriage op Sunday
of Mr. Oscar F. Cheatham, Jr„ of this
city, and. Miss Edwins Chapln. of At
lanta.
The marriage occurred at Ogle
thorpe. Several weeks ago Miss Chap.
In was the guest In this city of her
sister, Mrs. Charles C. Carr, on the
corner of Jefferson and Society
streets, and It was here that she made
the acquaintance of Mr. Cheatham.
The young lady went from Albany to
Montezuma to visit another slBter, and
Mr. Cheatham went up to Montezuma
on Sunday. That afternoon he knd
Miss Chapin went driving. They rode
over to Oglethorpe, the county seat,
where they procured a license and
were married. They drove back t to
Montezuma, where Mrs. Cheatham re
mained, the groom returning home on
the night train.
It was not until late yesterday after
noon that It became known, except to
a few, of his Intimate friends, that Mr.
Cheatham had Joined the ranks of the
benedicts, but when asked to .either
conflriq^or deny the rumor he stated
that the report was true. He stated
this morning that he would go up to
Montezuma Sunday morning and be
accompanied home the same day by
Mrs. Cjheatbam.
Thej announcement has brought
many J congratulations to the young
groom, who la the only son of Col. and
Mrs. O. F. Cheatham. He Is employed
at Mock & Rawson’s, on Broad street
Many friends of the young couple
