UMMER HOSIERY FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN
Unnsual Variety-—Extraordinary Values
Some, man has figured it out with mathematical precision that a person living 75 years stands up 25 years, or one-third of the time. Now, who would
want to stand 25 years with uncomfortable feet? A great many people think that aicomfortable shoe entirely solves the problem, but wiser ones know that
discomfort is often caused by carelessly selected Hose.
Then there are other considerations which should influence you to buy Hosiery carefully. Both money and a great deal of the trouble of darning may
be saved. It is hardly wise to drop in anywhere and buy the first stockings offered you — though we honestly think that you would not suffer by such ,<
careless shopping at this store — but you should examine and compare the hosiery offered you at all the stores to which you have access.
We want you to do this —we invite you to make this comparison of our hosiery with that of other stores. We are anxious for you to study the qual
ities offered, and we say, buy wherever you find the best values.
In our really superb stock of Ladies’ and Children’s Hose we are confident that you will find the best values. Our great confidence in the values in this
Spring and Summer Line of Hosiery is born of an experience of nearly forty years. We will appreciate your calling to examine these Hose, even if you have

8peslal to The Herald.
ATLANTA, Ga., May 2.—That Father Sherman,
son of the late General Sherman, who is going over the
route taken by-his parent in his march to the sea, is
making the mistake of his life, is the opinion of General
Clement A. Evans, a member of* the Georgia prison
conhnission, and commander of the Army of Tennessee,
United Confederate Veterans. Father Shernjaa is ex
pected here tomorrow. What his reception will be re
mains to be seen. The acting mayor of Savannah, when
he heard of the'plan adopted by Father Sherman to col
lect data regarding his father’s famous exploit, voiced a
sentiment that he ought to be caught and hanged.
General Evans thinks that any man of the cloth is
safe in Georgia. “I regret very much,” says the gen
eral, “that Father. Sherman, in making his march to
the sea over the ground which his. father went, will
carry an escort. He does not need protection, and such
manner of proceeding will arouse indignation among
Southerners.’ • ' , +
This is what Captain “Tip” Harrispn, of the comp
troller-general's office, says: "All I have to say’is that I
hope they will leave their torches at home and the
young men will not rob women and children along the
way.”
A dispatch from Washington quotes Congressman
Livingston, of Georgia, as saying that if he was Govern
or Terrell he would not permit Father Sherman to ride
through Georgia with an escort of cavalry.
Everybody is getting worked up over the matter,
the arrival of the priest is being awaited with more
than ordinary interest.
