The fire laddies have been letting
the spring fever get Into their blood.
The amorous part of their make-up
haB developed wonderfully in the last
few days. Sp/ strong has this feeling
gfown that the telephone at the fire
'department has been In constant use,
connecting Al' boys with their fair
ones. At last,tin self-defense, Chief
James was' fofc$d to put this placard
on the ’phone: "This ’phone for fire
service only. -Do your courting In the
parlor." It ip to be hoped that this
will dampen the ardor of the lovesick
BWhtns. Mr, Weldon says, though,
that he doesn’t mtndbAlng kept from
talking; tjie girl Is all he wants.
No doubt, though, the boys, from Hall,
the latest acquisition on the force, to
i. certain confirmed bachelor who
boasts his Immunity from all the wiles
of-the fair oAes, will soon find a way
to evade the heartless order of their
chief. Love laughs at locksmiths,
they say, also at telephones. In the
meantime talks with the ladles must
be made In person.
