You could see from the start how It
would end. In the first place, Harry
Eldred got his base. Rambarger sac
rificed and Snodgrass waded Into one
of Hale's slow ones, and sent It over
the fence.
Of course, as a beginning, this was
not bad, and the whole team kept It
up: McCormack got five hits, Boyd
three, and the rest of the team coming
In for some.. Also, Cordele hammered
for nine hits. The errors helped to
make It high school ball, fit was
ragged, but a lot better than a defeat
The management of the Cordele club
put In no less than three pitchers.
Say, which was worst? They gave
hits and bases on balls recklessly, and
the Albany crowd took advantage of
It recklessly, too.
Of course Snodgrass was the herb.
Not only did he swat It, but his work
In left was good to see. Eldred played
a nice game at second. Poole, the new
man, showed up well. In fact, the
whole team showed what sort of stuff
Is In them. The trouble witlr Cordele
was not with the pitchers, or the in
field, or the outfield, hut with all three.
It was a ragged exhibition. Already
murmurings are heard In Cordele.
Somebody will be . tin-canned, and
that quick. Before the game started
Scott remarked that they had to win.
They didn’t, and so—
Well, we did It, anyway. Third
place for us now, and when the team
comes home from Columbus we'll be
higher. It’s a pleasant prospect, and
not out of reach, either.
Sixth Ipning.
Poole walks and later steals second.
Alec singles. Crosley hits for one.
