The service of one of the finest stal
lions that was ever born and bred in
old Kentucky will be offered to the
people of this section. Idle Wood is
a beautiful bay, with black points, an
Is an Ideal horse from • every stand
point.
Idle Wood’s breeding Is second to .1
that of no horse In the Sodth. He was
slved by Idle Wood Wilkes, son of
George Wilkes (2:22.) His first dam j
Is Belle Nuttwood, by Nuttwood (2:18) j
and his second dam was Kentucky
6elle, by Harrold 413. Idle Wood V.. "
represents the best trotting families ’
ever produced In Kentucky. His dam J
wAs farmed out one season for as jj
much as $1,600. rS
Idle Wood V. has wonderful speed ;3
himself. He was trained for only thlr- |
ty days and made the half mile In, >
1:18. There Is not a better broken
and mannered horse In the South. A
10-year-old boy could hitch him up
and drive him anywhere.'
As above stated, this excellent stal
lion will make the season at Living
ston’s stables. The service charge
will he $15, or $25 where eolt Is in
sured. An excellent opportunity Is
here offered to those who have brood
mares from whom they desire to raise

NEW YORK COTTON LETTER.
(By Wlreto Clark & Co.)
New York, May 21.—The continu
ance of the favorable weather brings
the trade to a full realization of the
absurdity of the unfavorable crop
statements that have been circulated
for the past two weeks. There never
has been any justification for such re
ports, and as we approach the time
when the June government report shall
be issued, the people who were re
sponsible for the promulgation of them
find that there is not a market for the
.cotton which they accumulated In the
moments of their apparent enthusiasm.
It 1b not to be denied that the bull
party has sold cotton at favorable op
portunities, but there has never been
one favorable enough to enable them
to liquidate their holdings and get out
a line of shorts, which somo believe
was tholr original intention. There
are some hedges coming on the market
against early sales by producers, hut
one should bo cautlouq and not sell the
market on its weak spots for some
time to come. When'll Is hid up for
effect, conservative sales seem justi
fied. »

Did It ever occur to you to Insure
the life of your horse or your mule or
your cow?
A business man who does not Insure
Ills property against destruction
damage by fire is considered a man of
judgment, Indeed, these days.
Then whnt must be thought of a man
who owns stock and does not insure
thel™lves, tneroby securing protec-

tlon against a loss which Is more cer
tain than fire and which comes to ev
ery horse and mule and cow?
A great many men Insure their
horses and other live stock against de
struction by fire and -consider that
they are doing a wise thing. Then
how much better It Is to insure the
lives of valuable domestic animals at
a cost often less and rarely, more than
fire Insurance costs. \
Messrs. E. W. Livingston & Bro.
represent in Dougherty and Lee coun
ties one of the very best live stock
insurance companies now doing busi
ness In the South. It Is the Georgia,

company and is the guilding hand
which will steer It into realms of sure
success. The fact that a man of Mr.
James’s conspicuous abtlity is at the
head of this company is a guaranty
that policyholders in this company
will receive the best treatment consis
tent with safe and sound management.
The rates at which insurance on
stock is written in this company are
3 per cent for the first year and 2 per
cent for each succeeding year. Messrs.
