"Daddy” Hamburger is hitting near
ly up with Hessler now. Hessler, it is
explained, is the one they'swear by in
Columbus.
It is getting time that Amerlcus lose
a few. After that first frazzle on eh-
thuslasm wears off it won’t be as easy
to walk away.
THE MAN BEHIND THE
DOLLAR is the man who
ought to know something
about our rates and terms for
loans on real estate. For
many of these we are fur
nishing the means for'pro-
viding themselves with
homes. WHY NOT YOU,
whether the amount you
want is big or little? You
will be surprised at our con
tracts— the cost, and how
they adapt themselves to the
convenience of any one. Let
us figure on it with you.
Albany Trust Co.

Foster, Lavender-like, has taBted de
feat, too. The winning streak of these
two has been only equaled by Ameri-
cus’ losing streak,
Some of those who don’t know are
pointing the Anger of scorn at the Al
bany club. Some people have unlim
ited quantities of gall.
The amateur baseball' teams recently organized
among the young men of the city, those who work
in the wholesale houses and those in the retail, will
meet first on next Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock. The
proceeds will go to the Hospital Association, and t,he
game deserves to be liberally patronized by the
public.
The line-up of the two teams is entirely amateur,
and those who go out will not only bd'rendering a
service to a worthy cause, but will also be treated to
an exhibition of clean baseball.
Arthur Starr has sold his franchise
to a local stock company. There was
nothing wrong with him, but they
wanted to run things themselves.
Really, it is hard to get a complete
line-up now. “The pitchers have to
work in the outHeld and nearly every
one on the team playa out of his posi
tion.
What disposition Cordele will make
of the team is now agitating the minds
of those who like to predict., The fu
ture ought to take care of itself, but
it won’t.
Thirty- prominent Albanian

three of the games will be lost. And
Cordele, too, is waiting for them. Now
Cordele is no stronger than Valdosta,
it as strong, in spite of the standing,
and it will be just as easy to take a
few from them, or easier.
That Americus team received some
thing bad yesterday. Columbus was
shut out, too. Of the losing teams,
ours was the best put up game.
• Then these reductions on men’s and young
men’s suits will appeal to you. Every svtit is
included in these reduced prices. Including
serges, worsted and cheviot fancies. Single and
double breasted, newest patterns and' style cuts.
Columbus must have at least four
out of six games or the umpire will
suffer. Unless he works their way as
the Vagrants darkly hint was recently
the case.

A True Laxative. Takes the place of Calomel.
The liver is the great filtering, apparatus of the
system. It filters the poison-loaded bile out of the
blood and discharges part of it from the body.. When
the liver fails to do this work, then the bile "passes
through into the general circulation and begins its
poisonous work. Eventually it settles and fastens
itself at borne point, which location may be far away
from the liver; yet it is stagnation or congestion of
the liver which is the immediate cause of the whole
trouble. The only way to help a disordered liVer is
to treat it as the human filter. ,

Through seven and one-half innings
it was most anybody’s. Valdosta was
not running away, and the Climbers
were fighting for dear life. Even it
was, and visions of twelve innings be
gan to come up before- the grandstand.
But with the’bases full, they called on
Bagwell to deliver. He did, a clean
three-base hit, while the others raced
In, and the Valdostans shouted. That
was the trouble, and what had been
3-3 was 6-3.
Barber was a trifle hard for them
to find. The yellow-haired youngster
was In fine form. He was hit for five,
but they weren't of the bunched vari
ety. Kirkland Is the new pitcher
Snodgrass has signed, and he looked
pretty good, allowing eight It Is true,
but one of these was that drive for
three, and If it hadn’t been for that it
might have been a lot different. Still
It wasn’t.
Strange to say, Valdosta made near
ly twice as many errors as Albany,
the home'team going In for nine. But
the men don't seem to be able to take
advantage of opponents’ errors, and
this Is how gamp are won. The
earned run Is a rare thing compared
.with the ordinary run.
Dudley Is still catching for the team,
Mac being stlli unable to do anything.
Walters jvas also a factor In the re-
sulL He was quite an adept yester
day with his base-runner-killer, and
some died at second that ordinarily
wouldn’t
It was simply a case of hard luck.
Who could have foretold that Bagwell
—who is really weak with the stick—
would do that piece of work? A
scratch hit could have been expected,
but fortune was hard against the new
pitcher.
Which makes two series gone, with

Reports are that “Kid” Nunley is
playing harder than ever now.
These are sad times in Albany, buf
"it must brighten up some time.
To win or not to win, that is the
question. There Isn’t any answer.
It was a dead certainty that Beusse
jvould attend to that losing streak of
Waycross.
