NEW ORLEAN8 COTTON LETTER.
, By wlro to Clerk A Co.
New Orlecno, June 18, 190C.
In Liverpool options on the close
were from 2 to 3 points higher than
final prices Saturday, while some fur
ther improvement in the spot situation
was noted, sales today aggregating
10,000 hales, 3 points up. Cable ad
vices from the Far Ea3t indicated a
heavy stock of yarns both in Japan
and China and Expressed the opinion
that expprters were overloaded.
Some steady selling of Julys was
the feature in today’s trading and
there is hardly a question of a doubt
but that this liquidation can be attrib
uted to some of the more prominent
bulls, who have quietly been ridding
themselves for the past week of their
long interest. In spite of the fact that
the drought remains unbroken in parts
of Texas, bearish opinions as well as
some aggressiveness, were largely in
strumental In forcing prices to lower
levels.
Further rains have also occurred In
.the extremely eastern belt, and the
few complaintB of damage due to the
excessive moisture are being received
from the Carolinas, but with the ex
ception of North Carolina prospects
for tomorrow are all .for daring
weathr. Unless the drought condi
tions in the southwest are soon brok
en, the crop-in that section will doubt
less suffer some setback and nrobably
cause a stronger market, hut on the
other hand one good rntn would in all
likelihood bring about renewed selling
and increase the bearishness of pres
ent opinions. Yours very truly,
GIBERT & CLAY.
