8 The law does not provide for
any one living out of the State of

immediate cause of his death.
10 Widows who have married
since the sorvice of their huobands

\V. U Hakbibon,
See. Ex. Department,
The weekly press of Georgia has
done the state good aervice many
a time, but it has nevor been en¬
gaged in a batter work than its
present, eflort'to arouso the people
to tho importance ot a general sys¬
tem of road improvement and to
spur the legislature to its duty in
this particular. The road agitation
must be kept up until our miser¬
able highways are converted into
good durable shape. No state CUU
attain its bast passible condition
with such roade as Georgia now
has.—Atlanta Journal.
Probably tho oldest person in
Lampkiug county is the widow of
a soldier who fought in the Mexi
om war. She is ninety-two, but
does not remember the command
her husband belonged to—only
thM; he went from a town iu South
Carolina. There is big money
a Writing her demand in the pen
aion department, if she can get up
the proof ot Uor husband’s service
-
It is ciaimsd that Mil led grewi lie
has handled more cotton during
the past season than iu any former
season in her past history. Cotton
is still coming in as fast aa the
wretched condition of the roads
will admit, and tho season will
probafely continue until far into the

Chicago is devising many schemes
to make the world's fair a snccesa
and the brains of the men who are
to manage it are kept buey evolving
original and striking features for
the great programs.
The latest novelty in that line is
the proposed national reunion of
Federal and Confederate soldiers. <
This reunion is in the natnie of
a suggestion only, but it seems to
bo meeting with favor in n number
of northern and southern states.
There must be no sectionalism
about file great, fair, and this gen
eral handshaking betw< en northern
and southern soldiers ts doubtless
designed to anticipate any ideas
in that line which may be enter¬
tained by the people of the south¬
ern states. Such a reunion, there¬
fore must have good results.
This world s 'air business has
had a happy effect in Chic.go, and
may ala > have a happy effect upon
tho coun ry. If it. shall succeed in
effacing sectional lines, it will Ac¬
complish a far greater object than
the one which it was primarily de¬
signed.
The full Mdnrns from tho south¬
ern states am not vet i.:, but r is
presumed that the pet p’e will t.
gaid tins national reunion in a fa¬
vorable light —Cons! itntior.
