heat. And in like manner fulfilled an engage
ment with a full sister to Carolinian, at one heat
of four miles. He then run a trial of two miles
out wiih tho celebrated Henry, beating him
from 60 io 70 yards, and making tiie run, with
training shoes on, says one of the timers, in
three minutes and forty-eight seconds ; per

in a four mile contest with that truly formida
ble race mare Janelle,that won 14 out of 16-
