Editor Thomas Haynes moved his Standard of Union to Milledgeville from Sparta in 1834. Under the banner “Our Conscience – Our Country – Our Party,” the paper was published by P. L. Robinson every Tuesday morning, and one could purchase a subscription for three dollars per year.
