The statioa house at No. 9, A. & G.
R. R. (Tebeauville) has been under
pinned and re-covered—so says the
Way cross editor of the Times. Strange
those Gulf Road folks will be so
raughty. Why not let the old thing
.go to pieces and accept the nice, com
modious station house at Waycrossi
the junction of the roads V The good
people of that place have built a good
one and offered it to both roads. The
B. & A. is ready to use it. Wonder
why the A. & G. is not?
The British ship Western Empire,
from Pensacola to Liverpool, sprung
a leak and sunk at sea on the morning
of the 14th tilt., when about one hun
dred and thirty miles from the coast
of Florida. The ship and cargo were
valued at $62,000. The crew aban
doned the vessel, took to the long
boat and reached to within two miles
of the beach of St. Vincent’s Island,
when the boat capsized and the second
mate and six of the crew were drown
ed. The remaining men, seventeen in
number, clung to the keel of the boat
and finally drifted to shore. Cupt.
Hobbs, master of the Western Em
pire, died at Pensacola, and the ship
was in the charge of the first mate at
the time of the disaster.—Key of the

The Palmetto Guard, of Charleston,
S. C., have sent out a circular invit
ing the citizens and organizations of
the various States of the Union to
unite in a Centennial celebration on
June 28, 1876, of the battle of Fort
Moultrie. They say :
“The differences which threatened
the Union are ended—rettled, we liope>
now and forever. War, we trust, wil
not divide those whose welfare is to be
at peace with each other. The first
century of our political existence is
near its close. In the glorious remi
niscences which ushered it in let us
B eek to bury the demon of discord.’’—
The Montezuma Weekly tell of a frog
that was cemented up in the brick
work of a bridge over Flint river in
this State by Mr. Wm. Fay, bridge
builder of the S<>utnwestern R. R*
It regained in its cemented cell twelve
years, having been put there by Mr.
F. in 1863, os an experiment when
♦building the bridge. The Weekly con
cludes its remarks with the following:
Wlitiii cynfined to th U repository of
its twelve years inactivity it reposed
in an indenture of its shape and size
formed in the soft mortar by its
weight, which had long since resolved
into the consistency of stone, and
when released by an incision into the
structure a few days ago, the frog
from its confinement, .leaving the
murk of its shape which had thus har
dened into adamant around him.
There is no telling how long this frog
have lived in this home of his
.confinement.
