Killed. —A number of negroes on
St. Sim on’s Island were spending lost Fri

a drunken fellow from another part of

put him out, was thrown to the floor,
and stamped in the breast; which caus

Christmas.
Well, Christmas has passed, and
left behind recollections many and va
ried. The dear children still have
dreams of old Santa Clans, riding {
forth at midnight with his swift-footed
teem, from house top to house top-
stopping just long enough at each to
slip down the chimney and All each
little nL/ukiiig with toys, ect.
The young people remember with
pleasure the pleasant little parties,
whilst the “old folks” take a short
Bigh, and then contrast the present
with the happy daysoftheur child
hood—the' days of “long time ago;’*
whilst the reckless and dissipate!
mourn over the effects of their follies
and the depletion of their pocket*
books, already, probably, too lean.
