Tim excursion . down the Bay and
out on the bosom of old Neptune’s
vast domains was enjoyed hugely by
all. “Grand!,” ‘‘Sublime!,” “Magnifl-
oent!,” etc., were "the expressions that
greeted us on ovely side. We were
peculiarly struck with on6 old gentle
man. When within a mile of the outer
buoy, he raised his manly frame to its
full proportions, and with his back on
the islands and his face to the sea,
^scanning tho surface as far as his eye
could reach seaward, quietly remark*
ed, “Well, we are out of sight of
land,” entirely forgetting to look be
hind liim. The excursion was an entire
success, with the exception of the too
frequent visits of some of the party fc 0
a certain little room where goblets )
etc., were kept. We are glad to know,
that the delegates were not the frequen
ters. Whilst hero, many little pleas
antries were gotten off by various
members, to-wit: Ono old gentleman
beeamo so enamored of one of our fair
maidens, that he proposed, carrying
her home with him for one of his
“boys;” another, seeing a poor, lean

Ea passant we remark that it has sel
dom been our lot to see, assembled
.anywhere, a finer looking and more
•' intelligent body of men. Georgia may
indeed be proud of her sons.
The latest sensation is a reward of
ten dollars, offered by an old gentle
man in Wayne co., for the apprehen
sion, with proof to convict, of the fel
low who stole certain plank he had
been saving to make coffins for him
