Weston of the Albany News and Grubb
of the Danen Gazette.
—One gallon of gin and ten dozen
eggs fa all he got for his Christmas
egg-nog. He loves it, sure.
—It is said of one of our yellow fe
ver victims that “he never took a
drink in his life and always paid his
debts.”
—Election for county officers comes
off January 3rd—just one week from
to-day. Send in your orders for tick
ets at once, ye candidates.
—Our mails from the North leave
Savannah now by the morning train,
thus avoiding detention at Jesnp,
thanks to exertions of our wide awake
friend, S. 0. Littlefield.
Our patrons will please bear with us
a few days nntill we can get our new
press and material in position. Early
in January we hope, to give them a.
larger and better paper.
—What bas become of onr Board of
Trade? We truly hope the institution
has net died a natural death. Chine,
gentlemen, ‘ your efforts so far have
not been without happy results press
forward still.
—Mr. Joerger (pronounced Yurger),
the New Orleans druggist who came
here during the epidemic, was so well
pleased with onr place, that he has re

He evidently is at home in a drug j

—Our eity Marshal unearthed, a |
few davs since, quite a lot of ladies’
silk dresses, baby plotlies. gents’ un
der garments and a pistol—some of

Parties having lost such things can
get them by calling on Marshal Jllain,

small fee for the printer.
—Well, Christmas has oome, been
duly celebrated, And is gone. The
nsual amount of “nog” has been swal
lowed and fireworks exploded. It is
really a good thing that Christmas
does not come but “once a year," a 8
the snpply of these commodities would
snrely give oat. Wo are glad to state
that, so far as we have learned, there
have been no casualties to chronicle—
only a few small scrimmages among
the boys by way of keeping their
hands in.
* Appointments.—The many friends
and admirers of Rev. Mr. Hays will
be pleased to learn that he has been
sent back as Pretfidirrg Elder to this
District. Mr. Simmons goes to Sav

and his place here will be filled by
Rev. Mr. Abbott.
The People Want Proof.
, There is no medicine prescribed by
physicians, or sold by Druggists, that
carries such evidence of its success and
superior virtue as Boschee’s German
Syrup for severe Coughs, Colds settled
op the Breast, Consumption, or any
disease of the Throat and Lungs. A
proof of that fact fa that any person
afflicted, can get a Sample Bottle for
10 cents and try its superior effect be
fore buying the regular size at 75 cfs.
It has lately been introduced in this
country from Germany, and its won
derful cures are astonishing everyone
that use it. Three doses will relieve
any case. Try it. Sold by Dr. L 1).
