AN ORDINANCE
To prescribe the salaries, amomit of
bonds and duties of certain officers of
the city of Brunswick during the mu
nicipal year 1877.
Seo. 1. Be it ordained by the Major
and Council of the city of Brunswick,
iu Council assembled, that the salary
of the Mayor of the city shall be four
hundred dollars for the municipal
year 1877.
• Sec. 2. And be it further ordained,
that the salary pf the Clerk & Treasur
er t hall be eight hundred dollars and
the fees prescribed by the Code of
Ordinances ; he shall give a good and
sufficient bond, to be approved by the
Mayor & Council, in the sum of Five
thousand dollars; and shall make an
exhibit of the financial condition of
the city at the end of each and every
month.
Sec. 3. And be it further ordained,
that the salary of the Chief Marshal
shall bo seven hundred and twenty
dollars and the fees prescribed by the
code of Ordinances, and an allowance
of twelve dollars and fifty cents per
month for feed of horse; he shall give
a good and sufficient bond, to bo ap
proved by the Mayor, in the sum of
twenty-five hundred dollars; and shall
make a report at the end of each and
every month to the Mayor & Coun
cil, and at the same time turn ojjpr all
funds collected by him to the G ^ A*

Sec. 4. And be it further ordained,
that the salary of the Assistant Mar
shal shall be six hundred and sixty
dollars; tie shall give a good ami suffi
cient bond, to be approved by the
Mayor in the sum of one thousand dol
lars; and Bhall turn all funds, as col
lected by him, to the Chief Marshal.
Seo. 5. And be it further ordained,
that one Policeman shall receive a sni
pary of six hundred dollars ; shall give
a good and sufficient bond, to be ap
proved by the Mayor, in the sum of
five hundred dollars; and shall turn
over all funds, as collected by him, to
the Chief Marshal.
Sec. 6. And be it further ordained,
that the Keeper of the guard house
and clerk of «he Market shall receive,
as compensation for his services, the
fees prescribed by the code of Ordi
nances; shall give a good and sufficient
bond to be approved by the Mayor, in
the sum of five hundred dollars; make
monthly reports to the Mayor and
Council, and be responsible for all
blankets and other articles furnished
by tho city for the use of prisoners.
Seo 7. "And be it further ordained,
that the Harbor Master shall recieve,
as compensation for his services, the
fees prescribed by the code of Ordi
nances; and give a good and sufficient
bond, to be approved by the Mayor,
in the sum of Five hundred dollars.
Seo 8. And be it further ordained,
that the sexton of the white cemetery
Bhall reoeive a salary of one hundred
dollars; give a good and sufficient
bond, to be approved by the Mayor,
in the sum of Five hundred dollars;
and make monthly reports to the May

Sec 9. And be it further ordained,
that the sexton of the black cemetery
shall receive a salary of sixty dollars;
give a good and sufficient bond, to be
approved by the Mayor, in the sum of
one hundred dollars; and make month
ly reports to the Mayor and Cbnncil.
Sec 10. And be it further ordained,
that the three Port Wardens shall re
ceive, as compensation for their ser
vices, the fees prescribed by the code
of Ordinances.
Sec 11. And be it further ordained,
that all Ordinances, and parts of Ordi
nances militating against this Ordi
nance be, and the same are hereby re
pealed.
