courts. Ho was a leading broker in

that for another business, and left
this for speculation in oil lands. At
one time Sir. Elmore’s property was
placed in the millions, tbo exaggera

which failed. He could have realized
a quarter of a million, perhaps more,
atone period of bis life. Iu his
suits be was unsuccessful. Mean
while bo become sick; bis- property,
was sold by the Sheriff; bis wife
died suddenly, and his eldest son
was killed iu « railroad Occident.
Under this lost blow Mr. Elmore’s
rc ison gave way, and ho was sent
to the Poughkeepsie Asylum for tbo
insane, where be has just died. a

Superintendent Galvin has put np
a wire fence to guard tho grass-plot

Just at that moment, the man up
at tho reservoir, about a milo dis
tant, turned on the water for tbo
