.It is a natural location for a city, oc

town. Its extended water-front,
around which the railroads curve in
horse-shoe shape, formed by largo,
deep rivers that open out in the sound,
afford better facilities for great ship
ping industries than any town on the
Atlantic coast south of Norfolk. The
grand water view, with the low-lying
islands in the distance, aud above ull,
the grand old oaks whose branching
arms in days past shaded the red man,
and still stand to mark the lapse of
time, draped in graceful festoons of
dark green mess, all make Brunswick

These statements are demonstrated l»y

A Suggestion.
Every time wo have a flro we think
wo will make a suggestion through the
next Advertiser, but have never done
so. This time we will carry itout, and
say what we lmve felt for a long time,
and what scores of ethers have sug
gested also. The proposition is sim
ply this: It is next to iiupoMnildsfeto
mau the tire engine with white ifitni.
The colored men of our town are the
only ones that we can depeud on in
case of fire to work the brakes. This
being tho case, why not have the en
tire rank and file of tho organization
colored men ? They would take a
pride iu it, and the company would be
full—never under one hundred men.
Iu that case wo would get rid of all
this worry and trouble every time to
get men. The fellows would need no
summonses, but would l>e at their
post promptly whenever tho gong
sounded. Wo are aware that there nr**
objections to the plan (we could
raise them ourselves), but a little study
could remedy those objections and
give ua what wo need—a thoroughly
i-tpiippod company.
Now, we don’t want to be misunder
stood. Wo mean no slur on our pres
ent company. Wo don’t even know
who comprise its rank and file (except
a few), but simply this, that the col
ored men have the work to do, w hy
not give them the honor, too ?
