Opposition to High Freight Tariffs!
Office of the Fashion Like. /
Avgusta, April 15, 1854. \
rHPWIE subscriber would respectfully call the
S» aattentiou of the Merchants throughout Geor
gia, Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to
..e Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious aud
cheap route for the transportation of their Merchan
dise.
By comparing the freight tariff* of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Central, and
Waynesboro’Railroads, it wilt show a : suit in fa
vor of tins route of from 3o to 50 per ■ r., gener
i allv, aud iu some instances a greater . • .sitage.
By this route a merchant receives e.-. ipment
of his Goods together; they are not i-d by
him as they generally are by Railroad i .meeting
‘ with the seaboard, with a list of charges attached
to each package.
In addition to the present force of this line, an
other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
added during the coming summer. These boats
will leave Savannah after the discharge of the New
Y’ork and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or three
times a week, delivering those Goods at this point
in FIVE DAYS.
From the present low tariff of this line a deduc
tion of 12jri per cent, will be allowed ou all bills
from this date. Give the river more business, and
i a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the seaboard should be directed
to M. A. COHEN, Savannah,
and produce from the interior to
JNO. A. MOORE,, Augusta.
; To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as well
i as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers generally,
on the line of Railroads through Georgia and Teu

To facilitate shipments,'as well as to prevent er

REED’S PATENT CHRONOMETER
ENGINE.
This is an improved Steam Engine, for which
Letters Patent were granted to John A. Reed, ;
of New York, January 9,1855. The nature of this ;
Improvement consists of the increase of power
about 20 per cent, aud reducing the weight of the
Engine one-half. The saving of fuel is effected by
letting the steam in on both sides of the cylinder; 1
doubling the size of the port, aud balancing the j
pressure, removing the friction and weight of the
slide valves, eccentrics, cross heads, connecting ■
rods, Ac. The exceeding simplicity of this Engine,
renders it much more durable and’easily managed !
than any other, and when placed upon the boiler 1
with wheels it is portable though effective.
These Engines received the First Prize Medal at
the great Exhibition iu Paris. There are about
Seventy-five of them now in operation, all giving ’
great satisfaction.

It is the aim of most men to live healthy, and attain
a ripe old age. This, we claim, our R. R. K. Remedies
will secure to those who are now weighed down by dis
ease. or crippled with pains and aches, or other infirmi
ties. The R. R R. Remedies possess medical efficacious
and healing virtues, strengthening properties und life
prolonging powers, that have never before been given

theory, aud they . stablish new principles in the treat

The reader will bear in mind that the R. R. R. Rem

! RAHWAY'S READY RELIEF,
RADWAY’S RENOVATING RESOLVENT,
RADWAY’S REGULATORS.
With these three remedies, we are confident that we
can -a file disease in all its varied phenomena—no mat

HOW DISEASED ACTION BECOMES ESTABLISHED
AND THE BLOOD IMPURE.
A great error has long prevailed in the minds of med
ical men. That Impurity of the Blood is the Cause of
' Diseased Action.” This is a serious mi-take. It is a
disturbance of the circulation and ihe establishment of
: diseased action, that causes impurity of the blood,
j The R K It. theory holds the tru*h of the above max
ims, for if a person be in a state of perfect health, each
artery and vein must carry to and fr, m the heart its
allotted proportion of b ood. and when any set of ves
: sets refuse ,be the cause what it may) to carry their
1 proportion, the current of blood becomes dammed up—
| in other words, a congestion takes place, giving pain so
; a greater or less extent Here, then, is tho beginning
of diseased action, which, if not relieved, w ill soon run
into inflammation and the disease becomes established.
: Diseased action being once established, the blood be
comes impure, and the regularity of action on the part
' . of the Liver. Ski -., Bowels. &c , is sure to be interrui.t
--; ed and the general system, by sympathising with the
j local complaint, becomes involved in the difficulty. That
| this is the true state of the case, let any one call to mUd
his symptoms on catching cold. The local difficulty may
be a sore throat, which is a congestion of the blood,
: amounting (sometin es) to an inflammation about the
throat, owing to a previous deranged state of the cir
culation. and he will remember that his bowels become
costive, bis liver deranaed.or his skin dry. and his blood
i impure Had he used Railway’s Ready Relief when the
congestion was setting iu.as an application to the throat,
and swallowed a dose of the Regulators, lie would have
broken up the congestion, and restored the regularity
on the part of the liver, skin, bowels, Ac . which had
been broken in upon by the effects of the sore throat
Regularity being again established, the impure blood is
soon purified, and the circulation again equalized, anti
the health restored.

Tallapoosa Co., Ala'., Jan. 2, 1*55.
Dear Sir—l send _v.ni tins to certif yto you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has
performed one of the most wonderful cures on me
that has ever been effected on man.
I have been afliicted for forty years‘w ith erup
tions »n mv legs and feet; in IS4S they got so bad
that I had to go on crutches, amt in 18-ti* i had one
leg amputated above the knee. In about niue
months after my other leg broke out in large eating
and running sores, from my knee to my foot, attS
discharged a great deal of offensive matter. My
groin also broke out in large biles, which dtsclmrg
ed much offensive matter, and at the same time my
left hand broke out in large running sores nearly
to my elbow.
The misery that 1 have suffered for the last two
years, 1 cannot describe to you. I was in such ag
onv that I never rested day "or night.
In October last, my son brought me one of your
bottle wrappers; I read it, a id found record of some
wonderful cures performed bv your “Extract of
Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla;’’ t sent and got two
bottles of it, and commenced taking it. In two
weeks, to my great astonishment, mv sores all be
came easy, and I could sleep all night,' a thing I had
not done for two years. When 1 had taken six bot
tles, mv sores had nearly ail healed. M v sore got
well us if by enchantment. I have now used in all
eight bottles of your “ Extract of Yellow Dock and
Sarsaparilla,” and I now consider mvsel well.
1 entreat all oi Ihe afliicted to try this medicine,
tor 1 believe it will cure any known disease in the
world. Lav aside all prejudice and just try it, and
proclaim its great worth to suffering mankind, and
entreat them to take it, for it will cure them.
My case is well known in a large portion of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if any should
doubt the above cure, l invite them to call on me,
and 1 will show them the scars. I can be found in
Tallepoosa county, Ala.,one mile from Stoe’s Ferry !
BENAJAH HUGHES.'
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly
adapted for females of delicate health, resulting
from irregularity of menstrual discharges, and oth
er diseases peculiar to their sex. The proprietor
has in his possession a great number of certificates '
of cures performed, of the above description. We
assure the afflicted, that a bottle or two of Dr. Guv

at once regulate those difficulties, andjrenew the
natural energies.
