GRANGERS' MAGIC CORN AND COB
AND MEAL MILL,
Patented September IK, 1H55.
< l irarJny, Whyte & o>., Sole Agent*, Augusta, Ga.
IMPRESSED with the uilirc superiority of
this celebrated Mill, over all others for like
purposes, we feel justified in presenting it to the
public, as being all that can be consistently de
sired.
Possessed of all the advantages which are so
palpably secured by the inner cone instead of the
outer, being a fixture, while the outer cone, (or
shell) revolves; of being regulated in its feed bv
a single nut; of utter simplicity and accurate con
struction, these Mills present yet another, and a
ni“st invaluable feature , to which public attention
is • -y n dally invited —and which we believe renders
it totally superior to any Mill extant—to-wit: the
rollers, (which are adjustable, and the principle
claim under the Patent; employed on the periphery
of the revolving ot- outer cone! at its base.
These rollers (interdicted in other machines)
when once adjusted serve to keep the cones, under
all circumstances, equi-distant on every side (no
matter how often the change of feed), and utterly
prevent the oscilating, or rocking motion other
wise incident to the revolving cone, and insepara
ble from the moving cones ot other Mills.
As among the incalculable advantages of this
at rangetneut, we suggest that there can be no
crowding of the feed on any one side of the Mill
more than another, which in other Mills often
brings in actual conUtet the sides of the Mill oppo
site to that excessively crowded, while it immeas
urably increases the resistance to the moving
power. Again, while the yield is of more uniform
consistency, the cones may be brought almost to
gether, w ithout danger of actual contact when in
operation--: the result oftentimes of the rocking, i
or vibratory motion in other Mills,) as tlie rollers \
serve to preserve, under all circumstances, the re- j
Ifltive distance ofthe cones from each other. Tints ;
the very finest material may be ground without 1
die danger of actual contact between the cones; j
without the wear ami tear incident to this contact; i
and without the mcrcas. d and irregular resistance \
caused b\ this contact- advantages which even !
reflecting mind will agree, cannot be over estima- j
ted, and which stamp this Mill incomjMrabhj tin !
*.7 known ' Specimens ofthe grinding of' this j
Mill may be seen, of meal, shelled oats and rye,
which cannot lie surpassed by the best Burr
Stones. A a recent public experiment, a single j
horse ground at the rate of fifteen bushels ot ma- i
terial from shelled corn, to the hour, of which
more than one-fourth was meal, passed through a :
Vo. Is sieve the balance hoininv and stock j
feed in equal parts. A small pony worked with j
.in s'j foot lever, a No. 2 Mill, grinding eight to t
ten bushels to the hour, without difficulty. The
corn and cob ground together, exhibited beautiful j
specimens ot stock feed, which every true econo- j
mist should employ, even where there are but ‘
three or four animals to supply.
The capacity of the Magic depends, in a measure,
on the kind and on the quality of the material j
ground.
No. 1, (designed more especially lor family use,
or verv small farms,) will grind from three to five ,
bushels per hour. No. 2. from five to ten bushels.
No. 3, from ten to fifteen bushels.
The public, (within the territory ofthe under
signed, i will be supplied through "Agents, at the
different principal towns within our limits, at the j
follow ing uniform scale of prices:

MELL S PATENT PLOW STOCK!
fHNII II undersigned has invented and patented
.■ a most valuable improvement in the PLOW
STOCK -the county rights for which he desires to
sell. He prefers to let others speak its praise, and
therefore introduces the following certificates, from
two planters, well and favorably known in the
community in which they reside". He might in
troduce many others, but the Plow Stock will !
speak for itself whenever examined.
.1A MES 1.5. MELL. 1
Riceboro’, Liberty county, Ga.
This is to certify tliai.l have, with my own hands, ;
thoroughly tested the newly invented Plow Stock ;
of .lames 15. Mell, Esq. In point of simplicity* ami
perfection, 1 have never seen or used its equal, fit
it is combined every tiling that ! could wish in a :
Plow Slock, and it, in my opinion, is the cheapest
and the best that has ever been ottered to the pub
lic. 1 speak from having used it w ith my own
hands. I was raised to follow' the plow, and think
that I know how one ought to run. I would cheer
fully thank any one, who w ill thoroughly try it. to
point out to me one single fault iu it. It is" easier
upon the horse and the plowman than any that 1 !
huv e ever used.
The principle upon which von regulate the depth j
of the Plow is so simple, and yet so perfect, a> to j
commend itself to any one; and the Stock is adapt- j
ed to any kind of Plow lloe. It is, moreover, just j
as light as any could desire it to be. I would re
commend to any and all, if they wish the best and
cheapest Ployy Stock, without hesitation to get Mr.
James 15. Moll’s. 1). W. Wilson.
Penfield, Ga., April 15, 1356.
In company with several others, 1, this day, wit
nessed the trial of Mr. James 15. Moll's Plow Stock,
by Mr. I). W Wilson, and cheerfully state that all
present wore fully satisfied that it does everything
as stated above. 1 would, moreover, state that I
have been using them on my farm for several
months, and everyday serves to confirm me in the
opinion of the superiority 'of Mr. Moll's Plow Stock
to all others now in use. TitO.V vs }’, .Tanks.
