GEORGIA'S VOTE FOR PRESIDENT.
Wo find in the Savannah Neivs, the following
report of the result of the electiou, by the Legis
lature, of electors for President aud Vice Presi
dent. Mr. Stckoes, of Burke, urged the Senate
to refuse to join in the election for electors, but he
was overruled.
The General Assembly then went into an elec
tiou of electors to cast the votes of Georgia for
President and Vice President, which resulted as
follows :

l'lie following votes were cast direct for the gen
tlemen named :
tor President eef Struttum Confederacy ;
R. Barnwell Rhett, ot South Carolina, 1
For President of Southern United Mates :
Edtnuud Kuthn, of Virginia, ... 1
By glancing at the figures above, you will no
tice that out of three hundred and one votes iu the
(lenerul Assembly, only two hundred and thirty
six were cast, leaving sixty-five (more than one
fifth of the whole) to be accounted for by absence
or sickness. Ibis is not, however, the cause of so
smal! a vote. Many gentlemen declared that they
would not cast the vole of their counties in this !
contest, tor the reasons given by Mr. Sturges, of I
Burke. This gentleman himself refused to vote. |
* hey won Id not consent even to insinuate, by so
voting, that their people intended or would submit
to the election of Lincoln.
KanrasJCity, Nov. 27—The Register of the Land
Office at Fort Scott, on the 25th, says much of
the excitement here last week was without rea
sonable . anse. The Land (Mice has not been in
terrupted; and is not expected to be. The opinion
prevails that the flight of Judge Williams and
court was not warranted by the cireumstauces in
the case.
