ADDITIONAL bY TUK CANADA.
London Money Market- The bullion in the
bank of England has decreased two hundred and
eighteen thousand pounds sterling.
Garibaldi was making preparations for attack
ing Venetia, in the spring.
The latest advices, received at Queenstown, from
Italv state that the Pontifical troops were about
t„ march against Pontoro, to overthrow the Provi
sional Government there.
The ratifications of the treaty, between the Chi
nese and allies, were exchanged on the Cth.
FORT MOULTRIE EVACUATED!
CtiAßLKsrox, Dec. 27.—Fort Moultrie was evacu
ated last night ; the guns were spiked, and the
interior of the fort is now being demolished and
destroyed by fire. Only four soldiers have been
left in charge. The troops have been all conveyed
to Fort Sumter. Intense excitement has been
created in the city iu consequence.
The convention is now in secret session.
[second dispatch |
The latest intelligence from Foi Moultrie is
that only the gun carriages are on tire. The can
non have been spiked; and it is reported tnat a
train has been laid to blow up the fort. This,
however, is doubted. The excitement and indig
nation in the city is increasing.
[thihd dispatch.]
Chaei-FSTON, Dec. 27- — Halj-pust twelve o clock
p \],_The latest intelligence from the forts is
that Major Anderson states that he evacuated Fort
Moultrie in order to allay discussions about that
post, and, at the same time, to strengthen his own
position.
WASHINGTON AFFIRS.
Washington, Dec. 26.-It is not known or be
lieved here that any troops have been ordered to
the forts in Charleston harbor; nor is it the pre
sent intention of the Admin. sliation to do so. On
thecontrary.it ts asserted that the President be
lieves that such a course would serve to inflame
southern .sentiment, which is particularly to be
avoided at the present moment.
In relation to the aflfair of the removal of guns
from Pittsburg, it appears that the manulactory
had contracted to deliver them, upon requisition,
at certain points. The requisition was, conse
quently, made, and any opposition to, or restraint
on their delivery, by the citizens, will enure only
to the injury of the contractor, should the service
suffer by the delay.
An address, or recommendation, has been pre
pared, by authority, to be submitted to the mem
bers of Congress from the border slave States for
their signatures, requesting their respective States,
by enactment or otherwise, to appoint commission
ers to meet at Rultimore on the 13lh -of February.
1861, for conference in relation to the secession of
the cotton States, and devise a programme of ac
tion for the border States, in case of such an enter
genry. It is thought here that all the members
will not sign it, hut still enough from each dele
gation to induce a favorable response from tbeir
respective States.

Scrofula, or King’s Evil,

Its effects commence by deposit.on from the blood of . or
rupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and inter
pal organs, is termed tubercles; In the glands, swellings; and
on the. surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption,
which genders In the bio and, depressed Ihe euergies of life, so
tuat scrofulous constitutions not only suffer trom scrofulous
complaints, but they have far less power to withstand the at
tacks of other diseases; consequently, vast numbers perish
by disorder# which, although not scrofulous in their nature,
are still rendered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of
the Consumption which decimates the human family has its
origin directly In th.s scrofulous contamination ; uml many
destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed,
of all the organs, arise from, or are aggravated by the same
catt3e.
One quarter *f all our people are scrofulous ; their persons
are invaded by this lurking infection. and their health is un.

by healthy food and exercise. -Such a medicine we supply in
