ifoimnlnait VOL. VI. No. 306] Three dollars per annum. J PUBLISHED BY SAMUEL HAMMOND, NORTH BROAD-STREET, f Half in advance. The Celebrated Running Horse , . GALLATiN, WILL stand the present sea son at William Lows’ in Columbia ■county, fourteen miles above Augusta, on the main road leading to the town of Washington, at the reduced price of THIRTY DOLLARS, payable by note the first day cf December next, which inay be discharged by TWENTY DOLLARS paid within the season— JFIFTEEN the single visit, and one dollar to the groom in every instance. The season will commence on the first day of April, and end on the first day of August. Any mare that does not prove in foal shall have the benefit of the fall season gratis, by applying to the horse, provided he is not in keeping for a race. Excellent wheat and barley pastures are provided for the reception of mares from a distance, but no res ponsibility for accidents or escapes.— Mr. Low will take charge of all mares that may be left with the horse, and feed them twice a day with grain for one shilling per day, and the money ex pected when the mares are taken away. Good attention will be paid to every mare in rotation. Servants who may be left with the charge of mares will be boarded grutis. GALLATIN is an elegant figure, full fifteen hands and a half hign, nine years old, a red sorrel of superior form and constitution, and -a sure foal getter; his colts have by good judges been said to be superior, according to their age, in point of form and size, to any they ever saw on the Continent. PEDIGREE, Extracted from the General Stud Book of England, which cannot be excelled. < G ALLATIN was got by the import ed Horse Bedford, and he by Dungan-* non, whose sire was Eclipse ; his dam the imported mare Membnno ; his grand darn Miss Skeggs. Ly Matehem ; his great grand dam by Regulus, out of King Herod’s dam, and Regulus by the Godolphin Arabian. To those who are thoroughly conversant with the turf, it ' would he superfluous to remark, that Bedford undoubtedly contributed more to the improvement of the breed of horses in this country, than any stallion e'Ver sent to America. It would be equally unnecessary to enumerate his get, suffice it to say, he was the sire of Cupbearer, Dungannon, Ariadna, Nan cy Air, Peggy and Lottery. Thus it is no wonder that Gallatin, having all Ids near crosses from the best stocks in England, should stand unequaled as a runner, as the following testimony will shew:—Gallatin at Richmond, in Vir giijfia, in October 180-, run a 2 mile heat in 3 m. 43 s.—in February 1803. at Charleston, he ran a three mile heat in 5 m. 53 s—Two days after, he ran the same distance in 5. 52 s. JOSEPH COTTON. WILLIAM LOW. March 25, 1309- 88 Whip HAS commenced the Spring* season at Id's former stand, which will expire the 10th July next, and is on the same ternvsas last year, except TWEN TY DOLLARS will be taken if paid before the mare is taken away—notes will be expected with the mares. I have provided wheat lots in plenty, for the accommodation of a great number of mares ; and several of the neighbors have agreed to take the- care of mares and bring them to the horse regularly, and fed as directed, at twenty-five cents per day, regularly. I have a very large JACK, that stands at TEN DOLLARS, payable the first January next, which may be discharg ed by EIGHT DOLLARS within the season. I have General Twiggs’ celebrated JACK, th«t is so well known to be the largest and the sire of the best foals that has been seen in the southern coentry. Edward Jordan. Washington, March 18'. 87 1 AUGUSTA, GEORGIA. The season will commence the first day of March and end the 25th July next. S PAR is undoubtedly as sui t a foal getter as any horse whatever. The con stitution and bone of STAR and his colts are much remarked and well worth the attention of breeders and lov ers of the turf. Two hundred acres of as good pasturage as any in the state, gratis.—Grain will be furnished at the market price, and marts fed as their owners may direct.—No responsibility in case of accidents or escapes—evtiy precaution will l»e taken to prevent ti their.
