First Black Music
And Arts Festival
To Be Held
Augusta’s first Black music
and arts festival will be held
Saturday at 8 p.m. at the
Augusta College Performing
Arts Theater.
The program which is
sponsored by the Black
Student Union will include
music, featuring “Kenyatta
Tamboura” a Black musical
group, poetry and paintings
from the Black arts.
Admission is SI and all
proceeds will go toward
bringing Dick Gregory to
Augusta College on May 6th.

Paine Professors Meet With
NCATE Evaluation Board

Division of Teacher Education
for the college, recently
attended the Evaluation Board
Meeting of the National
Council for Accreditation of
Teacher Education (NCATE)
in Washington, D.C.
The Evaluation Board
Meeting is the second step in
the process for national
accreditation by NCATE. Paine
College took the first step last
fall when the NCATE visiting
team met on campus to
evaluate the Teacher Education
Program and supporting areas.
Accreditation by NCATE
attests to the quality of
preparation programs, and
assures the public that
particular institutions offer
programs for the preparation
of teachers and other
professional school personnel
that meet national standards of
quality.
Accreditation also insures
that children and youth are
served by well-prepared school
personnel, advances the
teaching profession through
the improvement of

named to the; Winter Quarter
Dean’s List, it was announced
today by Academic Dean J.
Gray Dinwiddie.
In order to qualify, a
student must achieve an
academic average of 3.5 on a
4.0 scale while carrying a full
load, according to Dean
Dinwiddie.

scholarship aid application
period extending from April 1,
to May 3.

The Sepia Players will
present a three-act drama,
“Black Matriarch" at C.T.
Walker School April 26 at 7:30
p.m.
It is the story of a Black
family in the midst of turmoil.
There is conflict between the
father and mother because of a
“role switch”. There is also a
deep conflict between mother
and son. If this is not enough,
the daughter is seeing a white
man and the girt’s brother is
seeping in militancy. All these
conflicts only emphasize the

Fr. Stone is married to the
former Enid Adeb Hawkins of
Nicaragua. They have three
children: Sylvia, married and a
public health nurse in the
Virgin Islands; Herman, a
second engineer in the
Merchant Marine; and Victoria,
now attending Richmond
Academy, Augusta.
