Take A Look
At Yourself
“Getting To Know You 9
Getting to know you
Getting to know all about you ...
Greetings:
These are the opening lines from a song I sing quite often, its
called “Getting to Know You”. And, that’s what this column is
all about.
Through our correspondence we will talk about the many ways
we can really get to know ourselves, which will involve creating a
new image or enhancing the one you have, working with what
you’ve got, learning to use your better assets and discovering just
which ones they are.
If you’ve been slipping into darkness fjjr fears of not being able
to acquire that glowing healthy appearance, here’s hoping I can
spark a little fire under you to make you all aglow.
Getting to like you
Getting to hope you like me..,
It’s been proven many times we find fault with the trends of
fashions, beauties, people and our everyday environments. It’s
because we don’t like ourselves. WHY?
Is it the hair, the skin, the figure, the walk, or maybe the way
we talk? Yes, sometimes the vocal chords can cause us to be
cancelled out on social functions.
Perhaps your tone or volume is one that others would prefer to
have unheard. Toor posture, backaches or signs of a double chin
appearing, (or has appeared)? Fear not, things are looking up.
Looking up?
That’s right, take it literally, I’m a strong supporter of Mother
Nature.
Try this for the problems just mentioned. Now that spring is
upon us, flowers are blooming everywhere. Lean over take a deep
whiff of your favorite fragrance beauty. Close your eyes,
straighten up, throw your head all the way back, and let it rest
between your should blades.
Now open your eyes and exhale slowly, while raising your neck
to its normal position.
If it feels good to you SMILE and do it again. Look at the sky
more often. Be your own weather forecaster. Estimate the height
of the tallest pine tree in your yard (or your neighbor’s) by
seeking out the needle closest to the sky.
When is the last time you gazed upon the stars? Do it tonight.
No luck, go out tomorrow and give it a try.
Mother Nature, sniffing flowers, looking at pines, stars and the
sky. What’s that all about?
Stretching, stretching, the next time you look up
streeetttccchh. Without a doubt stretching with Mother Nature
has got to look up for you.
Oh, by the way!
At the beginning of this stretching session as you leaned over
and touched that lovely flower, I’m sure you noticed the smooth,
soft texture. How about your hands, can you say the same for
them?
If the contrast between flower and fingertips is too much to
bear, then let’s add this to our stretching marathon.
Stretch those legs as fast as you can and head for the nearest
jar of medicated skin cream. The kind in the familiar blue jar (or
any other) will do just fine. Unadom yourself of all jewelry from
the fingertips to the elbow. Scoop up a generous amount of
cream, extend your arms straight in front of you at shoulder level
and massage starting at elbows qpd work your way to fingertips
until all visible traces of cream have vanished.
Next, pull out that economy size jar of petroleum jelly. Dip a
smaller portion than cream and repeat as above. This time
extending your arms straight up over your head.
If you’re away from home while reading this, try it when you
get there and definitely before retiring at night. For a special
bonus slip on a pair of cotton gloves to caress your hands through
the night (please, only if you sleep alone).
For the marrieds, do it on the boys night out, (slip them off
when you hear the turn of the key in the door). After all, some of
our ways to beauty are a secret you know.
You’ll get double benefits and good exercise while stretching
your way to lovlier hands. When you try it you’ll see and feel
what I mean.
Let’s not save stretching for times like arising in the morning.
Stretch on your coffeebreak, in the parking lot or in the Mens
room. (Ladies, this column is not for women only).
Just Stretch, Stretch, Stretch.
Haven’t you noticed
Suddenly I’m bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I’m learning about You
Day by Day
If you put forth an effort, you and others will notice (perhaps
not suddenly) that you are on the brighter side.
This is only the beginning to a more healthful, beautiful and
new You.
I’d like to get to know you and your needs, views, questions
and suggestions. Write to me in care of this paper.
Keep on Stretchin’ Baby.
