EMBASSY VISIT -- Captain C.A.O. Muoghalu of the
Nigerian Embassey in Washington, D.C., recently toured
the Signal School at Ft. Gordon to observe training and
talk to Nigerian students in Signal courses.
Approximately 60 Nigerian students are enrolled in the
Signal School Capt. Muoghalu serves as the liaison

Schedule
Weekly Story Hours for
children are conducted by the
Augusta Library. The program,
which includes a story, a film,
and talks about books for
various ages and interests, will
oe held at the Maxwell Branch,
1927 Lumpkin Road, on
Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Programs for Pre-School Children
Programs are planned for
pre-school children who are old
enough to enjoy books. The
“Picture Book Half-Hour” at
the Main Library, 902 Greene
Street, will be held on
Thursday at 2:30 p.m. A
Pre-School Story Hour will be
held at the Appleby Branch,
2260 Walton Way, ,on
Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Pre-School Story Hours at the
Wallace Branch, 1237
Laney-Walker Boulevard, are
scheduled on Monday through
Friday at 10:30 and 11a.m.
Dial-A-Story
Children may dial 724-8080
at any hour of the day or night
and hear a story or poem read
by a member of the Children’s
Department Staff. The
program is sponsored by the
Telephone Pioneers of Augusta
and the Augusta-Richmond
County Public Library.
Saturdays at the Library
Hey, boys and girls of the
CSRA! If you’re old enough to
go to school you’re old enough
to come to “Saturday At The
Library”. Every Saturday
afternoon at 2:30 at the Main
Library on Greene Street
there’ll be stories- films-book
talks-surprises!! ‘Specially on
the last Saturday of every
month there’ll be surprises
'cause that’s Super Saturday.
Remember now-save every
Saturday for “Saturdays At
The Library”.

Director - responsible for overall program direction in
providing daily lunches to low income children. BA in
Sociology or 4-5 years experience in social service
field.
Assistant Director/Bookkeeper - assist in program
operations and maintains all bookkeeping functions.
Must know trial balances, budget comparisons,
ledgers, payroll preparations, etc. Degree or 2-3 years
bookkeeping experience.
5 - Site Monitors - part-time work monitoring
program delivery at aite locations. High School grad
or college student with own transportation.
Record Keeper - general typing, filing and office
management. Must type 35 wpm and be high school
grad.

President Carter
Urges Federal
Agencies To
Increase
Deposits
President Carter has urged
all Federal department and
agency heads to cooperate with
a program to increase the level
of deposits in minority banks.
The President sent a
memorandum endorsing a
sevenyear-old ongoing
Government-private effort in
this area.
The Treasury Department
has set a goal of SIOO million
of Government-controlled
funds deposited in minority
banks by the end of 1977.
“It is important that the
minority banks continue to
participate in hte progress of
our Nation’s banking industry.
Your cooperation is vital. The
costs of this program have been
low and the dividends high,”
.President Carter stated in his
memorandum.

Wilcox
To Sue
New York, N. Y., May 4,
1977 - The Babcock & Wilcox
Company today filed suit
against J. Ray McDermott &
Company, Inc. in federal court
in Akron, Ohio. The suit asks
for an injunction and charges
violations of the federal and
Ohio Securities Laws and the
Atomic Energy Act in
connection with reported
purchases by McDermott of
B&W stock.
Deposits In
Minority
Banks
President Carter has pledged
to work towards increasing
federal deposits in minority
banks to SIOO million by the
end of this year.
Carter met with 11
presidents of minority banks in
The White House, all
representatives of the National
Bankers Association, a trade
group representing 153
minority banks. “My guess is
we’ll exceed (the goal),
President Carter said.
Earlier, on April 8, the
President had sent a
memorandum to all
departments and agencies,
urging officials to “make every
possible effort, within the
constraints of good cash
management, to locate deposits
under your control ... in
minority banks.”
The President named his
special assistant for minority
affairs, Martha (Bunny)
Mitchell, to serve as liaison
between the banks and the
Treasury and Commerce
Departments for this project.

today plans for extensive
expansion and remodeling of
the bank’s Walton Way Office
adjacent to the Medical College
complex.
The completed facility will
encompass one square block
offering a remodeled

Robert J. Brown on her personal achievement award presented at a ceremony
beginning week-long observances of Federal Women’s Program by the U.S’
Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. Johnson, a labor standards advisor, is
presently with the Office of Under Secretary, Interdepartmental Workers’
Compensation Task Force. Her articles and reports have become a standard ental

source of reference on major provisions of state laws relating to benefits for work
injuries.

Mothers With Annual Banquet
Hephzibah Jr. High F.H.A.
members honored their
mothers with an annual
banquet. Each mother was
presented with a red rose
corsage as they entered to be
pinned on by their daughters.
The room was decorated with
the clubs color scheme of red
and white. Centerpieces of red
and white roses made by the
chapter mother, Mrs. Mary
Rhodes, helped emphasize the
color scheme. The rose is also
the organizations flower which
represents the search of Future
Homemakers of America for
beauty in everyday living.

the two advisors, Mrs. Clarissa
