Lambuth Chapel at 4 p.m.

participants will be from
different denominations
and races.

committment of 10,000
federal jobs for youth w?

founder Leon Sullivan
who launched a
nationwide Jobs For
Youth Crusade two years
ago. In addition to the
10,000 public sector jobs,
the QIC youth campaign
called for 90,000 jobs in
private sector
employment. The OIC-
White House agreement
hands ove r responsibility
for designing,
implementing and
administering the new
uyouth employment
initiatives to the
Department of Labor
(DOL) and the Office of
Personnel Management
(OPM). OPM has been

Fredda Payne to Host TV Series
Singer Freda Payne
will host a new first-run,
half-hour series for black
female audiences titled
“Today’s Black
Woman.’’ The
announcement was made
by Charles S. Gerber,
president of
Gerber Carter
Communications,
syndicator of the series.
“Today’s Black
Woman” is scheduled to
debut on Feb. 1 in over 50
markets. The series,
which will feature
celebrity interviews and
hard-hitting discussions,
will begin production on
Jan. 12 in New York and
nationwide survey to
determine job vacancies
throughout Federal
agencies.
These Federal
agencies will be exempt
from regular
employment ceilings
during the initial training
period.
Department of Labor
will provide $1,272 million
in Title 111 funding to QIC
during the first year of
the program and an
additional $lO million in
public service
discretionary funds to
assist local QIC centers in
training and placing
eligible youth.
QIC will be joined by
other community based
organizations in selecting
job ready candidates for
federal employment.

campaign securing job
pledges from small,
middle sized and large

toured the Orient and
Europe with the Bob
Crosby Orchestra, and
appeared in many one
woman, sell-out concerts.
