We believe the New
Testament is the final
authority in all religious
matters.
We believe the New
Testament, not only con
tains the Word of God,
but it is the Word of God;
that it is of divine origin
given to us by the Lord;
that it is divinely inspired;
that it contains the
inherent truth of Christ,
and that it is the only
source of such (Matt.
28:18, Jno. 1:17, and
Rom. 1:16).
While Jesus was here
on the earth, and engaged
in his personal ministry,
he selected 12 of his
disciples whom he called
Apostles.
He trained them and
taught them to evangelize
the world. Before he went
back to Heaven, he
promised he would send
the Comforter, which is
the Holy Spirit, and that
he would teach them all
things, bringing all things
to their remembrance,
and guide them into all
truth (Jno. 14:26, 15:26
and 16:13).
Notice, he said, “all
truth,” not just a part of
it. We find later on that
the Apostles evidently
received what Jesus
promised them. For we
hear the Apostle speaking
to the elders of the church
in Ephesus saying: “I
have not shunned to
declare unto you all the
counsel of God (Acts
20:27).
Paul declared that he
had not kept back
anything that was
profitable and he had
declared it all, not a part
of it. Again we read in 2
Pet. 1:3, “According as

his divine power hath given
us all things that pertain
unto life and godliness.”
Everything in the field
had been granted unto
them in that first century.
In Jude 1:3, “Beloved
when I gave all diligence
to write unto you of the
common salvation, it was
needful for me to write
unto you and exhort you,
that ye should earnestly
contend for the faith
which was once delivered
to the saints.”
It is evident that the
faith, the body of faith,
the revelation of divine
truth, had been com
pletely given in that first
century.
We read in Eph. 3:3-5,
“How that by revelation
he made known unto me
the mystery; (as I wrote
afore in few words
whereby when ye read,
you may understand my
knowledge in the mystery
of Christ) which in other
ages was not made known
unto the sons of men, as
it is now revealed unto his
holy apostles and
prophets by the Spirit.”
Here we have the
apostle declaring that the
Lord had made known all
of the mystery to him.
Therefore, the Lord must
have fulfilled his
promise. Not only had
they received all the truth
and preached it
everywhere, they also
wrote it down.
Let us read again in
Jno. 20:30-31, “And
many other signs truly
did Jesus in the presence
of his disciples, which are
not written in this book,
but these are written, that
ye might believe that
Jesus is the Christ, the
Son of God and that
