According to founder
and general chairman of
the event, Charles Evers,
since the first
“Homecoming” in 1973,
more than 450,000 people
have participated in the
annual presentation.
This year, however,
with the promotional
sponsorship of the
Adolph Coors Company,
Evers announced he is
expecting to surpass an
earlier estimate of 60,000.
The play is performed
every ten years, but an
exception is being made
this year in order to
celebrate the 250th an
niversary of the play’s
presentation. The trip,
sponsored by the AC

“We are not keeping the
Homecoming to our
selves any longer,” says
Evers, brother of the
slain civil rights leader to
whom the event is
dedicated.
“The legacy left by
Medgar is shared by
people everywhere, not
just here in Mississippi.
So, now we’re beginning
to reach out and bring
some of our relatives
home.” Other activities
will include the renaming
of Delta Drive, Highway
44 in the city of Jackson.

as Medgar Evers
Boulevard.

Cannes Film Festival,
now in its 38th year.
It lasts 12 days and
about 90 films are shown
each day. No one
manages to see all of

filmmakers attention. So
