SIMON THE CYRENIAN, a Black man, helped Jesus of Nazareth carry the cross on the
day of the Crucifixion...four days before the Resurrection.
In the Bible Luke 23:26 discusses it clearly. After Simon had helped Jesus, he had to run for
hislife from the vengeful Romans. He was caught on the Island of Chios and killed. (Painting
by Ras Malik from the book Blacks Who Died For Jesus, Corrective Black History Books,
Philadelphia.)
