Mr. Freeman : As bee culture is
beconiing an interesting and lucrative
occupation in our section, I can see no
particular reason why we should not
have some notice taken of it in our
county paper. I do not propose, to
discuss the science, or tiie utility of
bee culture in this short article, but
simply to report my success the pres
ent season, up to this time. I began
the season with nineteen colonies; sold
one of them which left me eighteen in
fair condition. They began swarming
April 3d, and up to this day they have
cast twenty-eight swarms and five yet
to hear from, tho.se having issued from
thirteen. I have lost one certain, and
missed two or three others which
either ran away or \ymt back to the
old hives. Yve united two, swarmed
two artificially and now have forty-
one. I make my own hives, so you
may guess I eat but liitie idle bread.
We have had as many as four swanns
from one colony. One issued on the
IStU of April and ou the 2!)tii (eleven
days.) it cast a large swarm. If you
have no objection to such communica
tions I would like to see reports from
other bee men of this and adjoining

Mr. Editor : Whether we are to

upon the manner in which the law is
enforced. It is the plain duty of every
law-abiding citizen, whatever may

who have expected, and who still ex

that their work has not ended, but

violation and every evasion and at

watched and the culprit brought to
punishment. It is true that this will

SnialbPox at Rockmurt.
Xews has reached tins place that a
case of small-pox has appeared at
llockiuart. Various .rumors are afloat,
but the following card written to a
firm in this place this morning gives
the truth as it exists :
. Rockmart, Ga., May 4th, ISS2.
VVe found one case of well developed
small-pox here yesterday, l 3 of a mile
from the depot ou Lire Cartersviilc aud
Marietta wagon road. He is a negro;
says Ills name is John Lowe, came
from Wilkes county, Ga. about two
weeks ago to work on the railroad.
The house is isolated. He is quaran
tined with eight other negroes who
have been staying in the same house.
They will be guarded until they all
have it or the time expires lor them to
have it. J7o whites have beeu exposed.
We will make every effort to keep it
from spreading. J. M. Arrington.
Tin: Xtrlrgrapb.
The work on the new telegraph line
trom tiiis place to Cartersviilc lias not
yet been quite completed. The line
will surely be through, it is thought,
though, by the last of tliisweek. The
itstruments have been shipped and
hut little delay in tlieir receipt and
getting in plaee is anticipated ; so that
it can hardly be more than a week
yet at the farthest before ail Is in
lovely working order, ami another link
in the progress of our wide-a-wake

TRUTHS
The blood is the foundation of
life, it circulates through every part
of the body, and unless it is pure
and rich, good health is impossible.
If disease has entered the system
the c;:!y sure and quick way to drive
it out is to purify and enrich the
blood.
These simple facts are well
known, and the highest medical
authorities agree that nothing but
iron will restore the blood to its
natural condition; and also that
all the iron preparations hitherto
made blacken the teeth, cause head
ache, and are otherwise injurious.
Brown’s Iron Bitters will thor
oughly and quickly assimilate with
the blood, purifying and strengthen
ing it» and thus drive disease from
any part of the system, and it will
not blacken the teeth, cause head
ache or constipation, and is posi
tively not injurious.
Saved his Child.

the progress of the disease, but, to
my great surprise, before my daugh

and now is quite restored to former
health. A fifth daughter began to
show signs of Consumption, and
when the physician was consulted
