Cedartown mines and ships
more Iron Ore than any other
point in the whole South, out.
side of Birmingham.
GEORGIA IRON ORES.
The latest of the valuable bul
letins of the geological survey of
Georgia deals with the iron ores
of Polk, Bartow and Floyd coun
ties in the state,the investigation
in other fields still being under
way. The only iron ores of a
commercial importance so far
discovered in these counties are
Iimonite and hematite, the for
mer, commonly called brown
hematite, being the far more
abundant. The geographical and
geological distribution of these
ores, tiie mode of their occur
rence, their origin and the
methods of mining them are de
scribed minutely by counties in
a volume which is of value to
everybody interested in the iron
industry of the South. It is but
typical of the important, practi
cal work which has been done by
survey since its organization, the
results of which are summarized
in the report of State Geologist
W. S. Yeates. Among them is
mentioned the fact that while
prior to 1804 there was no large
liuitiling in this country con
structed of Georgia marble,since
then this stone lias entered partly
or entirely into the construction
of the St. I,uke’s Hospital, New
York city; the Oorcoran Art
Gallery of Washington, D. O.;
the State Mutual Life Assurance
Co.’s building at Worchester,
Mass.; the Rhode Island State
Capitol at Providence, the Min
nesota State Capitol at St. Paul,
the Century office building at St.
Louis, Mo,, the State Savings
Rank of Detroit, Mich., and the
Carnegie Public Library at At
lanta.
The survey has already com
pleted a report on roads and
road-building materials of Geor
gia, and on the granites and
gneisses in the state, and full
work for a detailed report on
aluminum deposits has been com
pleted, and considerable material
for one of the manganese de
posits has been collected.
The Manufacturers’ Record lias
taken the opportunity before this
to refer to the work being done
by the geological survey of Geor
gia, and it is plensed to note the
practical effects of it contribut
ing to the prosperity of the state.

LAKE CREEK LET!Eli.
Saturday was a big day with the peo
ple of Lake Creek, and one that was
enjoyed by all who came. We had a
large crowd bat not as many as was ex
pected. There was enough to have fed
a thousand more people. All brought
well-filled baskets,beside* the meat that
was barbecued and the quantity of stew
that was made. Mr. J. B. Hogg, of
your town, superintended the cooking
of the meat, and it was sure good. You
ought to have come, Messrs. Editors.
The young people had some good music
and a general “swing corner” time.
Hnrrab for old Lake Creek !
Miss Stella Benson, who has been a
pleasant visitor at the home of the
writer for several days, started for her
home Sunday morning. She has gained
the affection of the people of this place,
and the parting Sunday morning was
sad indeed, though she promised to
visit us again in the winter.
Mr. J. C. Coker, of Rome, was with
us Saturday. Saobii.
The Beat Remedy Tor Stomach and
Bowel Trouble*.
"I have been in the drug business
for twenty years and have sold most
all of the proprietary medicines of any
note. Among the entire list I have
never found anything to eoual Cham
berlain’s Colic, Cholera and Liarrbu’a
Remedy for all stomach and bowel
troubles,” says O. W. Wakefield, of
Columbus, Ga. “This remedy cured
two severe cases of cholera morbus in
my family and I have recommended
and sold hundreds of bottles of it to
my customers to their entire satisfac
tion. It affords a quick and sure cure
in a pleasant form. For sale by K.

Doctor* Failed.
J. Terry.of Turkey, Ky., writes: I
have been a .sufferer for fifteen years
from troubles arising from a disor
dered liver, and all the doctors in the
neighboring towns failed to do me any
good. I thought I would try a box of
Ramon's Liver Pills and Tonic Pellets.
After using one-half box I felt better
and was soon permanently cured. I
keep them in stock constantly since I
discovered their valuable curative
qualities. E. Bradford.
Magistrate—“The assault you have
committed on your poor wife is a most
brutal one. Do you know of any reason
why I should not seud you to prison?”
Prisoner—“If you do, yer Honor, it
will break up our honeymoon.”
During last May an infant child of
our neighbor was suffering from chol
era infantum. The doctors had given
up all hopes of recovery. I took a bot
tle of Chamberlain’s Colic, Cholera and
Diarrhoiva Remedy to the house, tell
ing them I felt sure it would do good
if used according Indirections. In two
days time the child had fully recovered.
The child is now vigorous and healthy.
I have recommended this remedy fre
quently and have never known it to
fail. Mrs. Curtis Baker, Bookwalter,
Ohio. For sale by E. Bradford, drug-
gist.
