Yesterday afternoon at 1.90 o’clock
two of Cedartown’s most popular
young people were united in the
holy bonds of wedlock—the contract
ing parties being Mr. John Henry
Stewart and Miss Nancy Louise

The ceremony occurred al the re
sidence of the bride’s mother, Mrs. J
S. A. Pitts, on Phllpot street, Rev.
T. R. McCarty ol the Methodist
church officiating.
The interesting event was wit
nessed by a large number of the
relatives and friends of the eoiytle,
the occasion being one of those
pleasant home affairs always so
enjoyable.
Under the strains of Mendelsohn's
famous wedding march, deftly ren
dered by Miss Gertie Knight, the
groom entered on the arm of his best
man, Mr. John Vivian Stubbs, and
took their place In front of the min
ister. Then came the bride on the
arm of her maid of honor, Mias
Martha Ridonia Adams, the couple
being Joined in wedlock by the offi
ciating clergyman In an Impressive
manner.
The bride wore a handsome going ]
away gown ol tan cloth, trimmed
with Persian panne velvet, and
carried h shower bouquet ol bride’s
roses. The maid of honor was at
tired in blue silk, trimmed with
applique and panne velvet, with La-
France roses and maiden’s hair ferns.
Hearty congratulations followed
the ceremony, the bridal party going
immediately to the 2:10 Central train
forJCIneinnall, llufi'alo and Niagara
Falls.
The happy couple left on their
bridal tour under a shower ot rice
and with the proverbial old slipper,

R. Brumby, hus won on competitive
examination a scholarship at Baliol
College, Utica, N. Y., and will leave
for that place about the 20lh Inst.
This talented young lady received
markings second only to one other
young lady, of New York City, and
the award of this scholarship Is cer
tainly a high honor and compliment.

On Tuesday evening an elegant
wedding reception was tendered the
couple at “Mont Arbor,” the beauti
ful home of Mr. and Mrs. R. O.
Pitts, brother and sister of the bride.
The hours of receiving were from
7:!IO to 9:80, and 9:80 to 11:80 o’clock,

esting event to follow the next day.
