Every woman in the country
ought to know about
Moflser’s Friend
Those who do know about it
wonder how they ever got along
without it. It has robbed child
birth of its terrors for many a
young wife. It has preserved her
girlish figure and save 1 her much
suffering. It is an external lini
ment and carries with it therefore,
absolutely no danger of upsetting
the system as drugs ti.kcn intern
ally are upt to do. It is to bo
rubbed into the abdomen to soften
and strengthen the mureles which
are to bear the strain. This means
much less pain. It also prevents
morning sickness and all of the
other discomforts of pregnancy.
A druggist of Macon, Ga., says:
“I have sold a largo quantity of
Mother’s Friend and have never
known an instance where It has
failed to produce the good results
claimed for it.”
A prominent lady of Lam-
berton. Ark., writes: •* With my
first six children 1 was in labor
from 24 to 30 hours. After using
Mother's Friend, my seventh was
born in 4 hours.”

“but she begged for Dr.King’sNew Dis

A New York Deelalon.
The New York supremo appellate
court has Just decided that a married
woman In that state cannot collect her
own earnings for work done outside of
her home and cannot collect damages
for personal Injury sustained by her.
This comes as a surprise. Such a rul
ing Is a disgrace to the court and the
commonwealth and Is a return to the
outgrown barbarism of the old Eng
lish common luw. In Massachusetts
Henry Wilson secured legislation giv
ing the wife a right to collect her own
earnings as early ns 1840. Remedial
legislation should be secured at the
uext session. Meanwhile the decision
should give a fresh impetus to the
cause of woman suffrage in the Empire
State.—Bostou Woman's Journal.

Sh* Allesea Monosyllable Cruelty.
A woman has consulted a Kansas
City lawyer about getting a divorce
from her husband because in his con
versation with her he confines himself
to the monosyllables “Yes,” “No” and
“I guess so.” The attorney Is at a loss
to know whether to bring the suit, if he
brings It at all, on the ground of cruel
ty, indignities or failure to provide. As
a certain amount of “talk” Is Indispen
sably necessary to a woman he thinks
the suit might be brought on the last
named ground. However, If the man
should file a cross bill declaring this to
be the extent of his vocabulary no di
vorce could be secured.—Kunsas City
Journal.
French Hint*.
The straight fronted corsets over
which everybody Is raving nre not
French. The Parisians appear to wear
the more old fashioned or perhaps new
er fashioned style of corset and have
not learned to despise a neat waist. At
the Louvre anil Bon Marche they nre
selling delightful boxes, round and ob
long, with gloves, laces or veils writ
ten across. The boxes nre covered with
gay cretonne. One could make them
at home quite easily. Chased gold Jew

monds and other precious stones sot in

Wise are they who never love auy one

Many a man who claims to be wedded
to his art cau’t prove it.
It makes a fellow feel like cheatiug
folks when he knows they are expecting
him to do it.

it for a fortnight.” "Then what’s
bothering you?” "What’s bothering
me? Why, I’ve got to wait for him to

The Care of Gloves.
When gloves are taken off, they must
never be rolled Into a ball, but careful
ly pressed out flat and laid In a glove
box longer than they are.
All holes must be mended as soon as
seen and buttons replaced.
As all gloves get to smell queerly if
worn any length of time, have a small
sachet of violet powder to lay Inside
the box or drawer and on a flue day
hang them out in the air and sun.
When dirty, have them cleaned sever
al times before buying new ones.
