The New Methodist Church.
Pastor Kemp was in town last
week in the interest of the new
Methodist Church. Ilis congre¬
gation proposes in the near fut¬
ure to erect ft new brick house
of worship fully in keeping with
the town and their denomina¬
tion. The annual Conference
which meets next month at
Cttthbert would do well to con¬
tinue Bro. Kemp here and we
would be more than glad to
claim him as a resident. This
would give hitn a much better
chance to direct the effort in
building the new church,

boarding at Dr. Gregory’s. They
will soon go to house-keeping

pied by Mr. Legrand and family.

congratulated upon having Bro.
Culpepper and wife located in
our midst, A model minister
with a model helpmeet aud com¬
panion, they will prove to be a
great Spiritual force in church
circles and are desirable resi¬
dents in every sense of the
word. They should be accorded
a very hearty welcome as cit-
szens.

entrance being effected by turn¬
ing the transome over the rear
door. Three pistols, with a full
accompaniment of cartridges,
were taken and Tuesday one of
the pistols was found in the pos¬
session of a negro who has
often Appeared in the criminal
courts of the county. Warren
Bishop, another colored sport
had pawned the pistol to Walls
and could give no satisfactory
explanation as to how lie came
into possesion of the coveted
weapon.
He was given a commital trial
Tuesday before Justice Webb
who committed him to jail in
default of a bond in the sum of
one hundred and fifty dollars.
