ARRESTED FOR FORGERY.
Marshal Truett Picks tip a Man Wanted
in Jacksonville.
Marshal Truett arrested a man
named John Williams at the Ho¬
tel Estey last Friday morning in
response to the following tele¬
.
gram :
“Jacksonville, Fla.,
Jan. 1, 1901. *’
Sheriff or Marshal,
Adel, Ga.,
Look for and arrest man name
Williams. Left here last night
on train fur your place. Charge
forgery. Description, white,
smooth face about five feet, >ight
inches tall, heavy built, florid
complexion, barber by trade.
Wire me if arrested.
W. D. Viuzent, C. P.”
Williams arrived in Adel on
the midnight train Thursday
night. II 9 put up at the hotel
and spent the next morning leis¬
urely until his arrest. He took
hi* arrest coolly, but said he
could not understand it. He re¬
quested that he be not locked up
and Marshal Truett and John
Weils guarded him until twelve
o’clock that night when Special
officer Crawford, who is a cousin
of Dr. Woodard, of Adel, arrived
and took him in charge.
To those who talked with him,
it was evident that Williams was
just getting olT of a spree. In
fact, he said as much and said
that h» came up here to sober up.
Ho said that he had worked in
Tampa for the last four months
and had only been in Jackson¬
ville a short while. Williams
stated that his home was in Illi¬
nois and that he had a mother
and two sisters there.
Mr. Walker stood his bond
while he was eating dinner Fri¬
day and when Williams had com¬
pleted his meal he walked out of
the hotel and was going at a
brisk pace beyond Mr. Julian’s
when overtaken by Mr. Truett.
}{« said he did not intend to es¬
cape but only wanted to walk
jabout a little, lie talked of de¬
manding requisition papers, but
finally decided to return without
them.
The amount of the forgery was
and he was arrested at the in¬
stance of one of the Jacksonville
banks.
The case looks pretty bad for
him, but the barber’s union may
aid him.
He has no doubt been an ex¬
cessive drinker ami Whiskey is
probably the cause.of his down¬
fall. It is not probable that he
was at himself when the aim*
was committed. . - ,

Don’t Worry.
This is easier said than done,
yet it may be of some help to
consider the matter. If the cause
is something over which you have
no control it is obvious that wor¬
rying will not help the matter in
the least. On the other hand, if
within vonr control you have on¬
ly to act. When you have a cold
and fear an attack of pneumonia,
buy a bottle of Chamberlain's
Cough Remedy and use it judic¬
iously and all cause for worry as
to the outcome will quickly dis¬
appear. There is no danger of
pneumonia when it is used. For
sale by IS. P. Williams.

His death could have been expect-
