A Happy Marriage of a Popular Couple
Last Week.
Mr. E. (J. Walker, of Ash burn,
and Miss Florence Eubanks, of
Tifton, both formerly of Adel,
.voiemarried in Tilton on Thurs¬
day night of last week. The
ceremony was performed at the
Melliodist parsonage, Rev. J. \Y.
Domingos officiating in nn im¬
pressive manner. Tha couple
were accompanied by Mr. T. H.
Mathews and Miss Mamie Duff.
They came to this city that
night and spent a few hours with
the parents.of tha bride, return¬
ing to Ashburn on the midnight
train.
The groom was the efficient
agent, of the Georgia Southern
road in Adel for two or three
years and was universally popu¬
lar. Courteous and ddiging, al¬
most every person in the commu¬
nity was his warm friend.
■Tha bride is a charming young
lady, talented and refined. Site

Gress Manufacturing Co., at Tif-

The couple will make A ..hi urn
their home, the groom holding
the position of agent of ihe G. S.
& F. riad. They have the best
wishes of a host of friends for a
happy married life.

The party occupied the Pullman
private car “Courier” which had
been chartered for the trip. Mr.
Hay bears no trace of recent se¬
vere illness, in manner or com er-
sation. He walked briskly from
the car and was cordially greet' d
by his friend, Col. O. II. I’ayne,
who had been waiting for some
time on the depot platform.

ed a large audience at the Adel
Institute on Thursday night ot

“A Boy,” and was in a humorous

Mr. Claude Devane and Miss
Cora Register were married at
the home of die bride’s parents
two miles north of Lois, last Sun¬
day afternoon in the presence of
a large crowd of friends, Elder
Aaron Knight, of the Primitive
Baptist church, officiating.
Tli> bride is a daughter of Mr.
Babe Register and is an excellent
young lady. She is a sister of
Mrs. John ShaW, of Adel.
The groom is a s >n of Mr. Mad¬
ison Devane of the Lois neighbor
hood and a br< th *r of. Mr, Cole¬
man Devane of Adel. lie is n
steady, industrious young man.
The couple came to A lei soon
after the marriage and are board¬
ing at Mr. and Mrs. John Shaw's.
Many friends wish them well.

Dr. Branch, the Distingushed
Minister, Died at Moultrie.
Rev. Dr. J. O. Branch, presid¬
ing elder of the Valdosta district,
died suddenly at the home of
Rev. John C. Flanders, at Moul¬
trie hut Sunday. He was in
Moultrie for the purpose of hold-

Rev. W. \V. Stewart went down

present at the funeral.
1 Il'TY YEARS A MINISTER.
I)r. Branch was GT years of age.
He was born at Abbeville Court
House, 8. C. in 1.837. lie early
prepared for the ministry and
when only J7 years of age was
admitted to the Florida Confer¬
ence, beginning Ins duties as pas¬
tor in that conference in J85L
He served with distinction in
Florida untiil 18G9, when he was
transferred to the South Georgia
Conference, where lie was serv¬
ing as presiding elder of the Val¬
dosta distinct at the time of his
death.
In 1878 he was appointed
tor of Wesley Monumental
Church, serving three years,
when ho was transferred to Trin-
iry Church, where ha served a
three-year pastorate. From there
he was sent to the Mulberry Street
Church in Macon. He was then
stationed at the leading charges
in the conference at different
times, and in 1898 was again re-

Early in his career Dr. Branch
married Miss Caroline Hentz of
South Carolina, a daughter ot the
well known novelist, CarolineLe®
Hentz, Of this union six chil¬
dren were born, four sons and
two daughters: Uev.C. H. Branch
of Decatur, Gn., Rev. O. W.
Branch of Dixie, Mr. Lee W.
Branch, an attorney of Quitman ;
a son engaged in farming at Dixie
the old home of Dr. Branch ; Mrs.
Comer of Cordele, and one other
daughter.
